About Abhishek Bachchan

Son of legendary Bollywood icon, Amitabh Bachchan and renowned actress, Jaya Bachchan, Abhishek inherited the intense looks and the brilliant acting from his parents. He is married to actress and former Miss World Aishwarya Rai.


Abhishek was dyslexic as a child, he studied at the Jamnabhai Narsee School and Bombay Scottish School, both located in Mumbai and also Modern School in New Delhi. He got his graduation degree from Aiglon College, Switzerland and then moved to U.S to study business but then left the course mid-way only to return back to India to help his father with ABCL, which was then hit by a financial crisis.


Abhishek's acting debut happened in 2000 with J P Dutta's 'Refugee', which also saw the debut of current superstar Kareena Kapoor. Inspite of all the big names attached and all the hoopla, the movie did not create much ripples.

It was with 'Yuva', that finally people sat up and noticed that this man could give a very intense performance. He followed that up with brilliant performances in 'Guru', 'Phir Milenge', 'KANK', 'Sarkar' and 'Dostana'. Though the 'Best Actor' trophy might have eluded him, he does get nominated almost every year for the 'Best Supporting Actor' and almost always wins it too.


On October 2002, at Amitabh Bachchan's 60th birthday celebration, Abhishek Bachchan and Karishma Kapoor announced their engagement. It was the most high-profile relationship in the country then, where people saw the meeting of two of the biggest khaandans in the Film Industry. The engagement though, was called off in January 2003.

In 2006, Abhishek was named the sexiest man in Asia by UK magazine Eastern Eye.

Amid much speculation and controversy, 'Abhiash' (Abhishek & Aishwarya) were finally married on 20th April 2007 and are now considered one of the 'Supercouples' of India. 

2010 will see one of the biggest movies of the star, 'Raavan' in which he will be cast alongside Aishwarya Rai Bachhan, and the movie has some of the biggest names of the Industry - including Mani Ratnam, A R Rahman, southern Superstar Vikram, and will be released in 3 languages, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
