You need to start pressurising your Government to act. I would urge any of you, who feel sufficiently concerned regarding the legagy of industrial pollution, to join pressure groups such as Greenpeace, Friends of the Earth, and local environmental pressure groups. You must get your Government to act responsibly, and take appropriate action to remediate the contaminated site, get adequate compensation from the perpetrators , and establish long-term care for those affected.
If you choose not to act, you may be laying down future ecological catastrophe for your children.

How could we have not put the responsible people behind bars for life?

I have lived in Bhopal, which is otherwise a very lovely city.
The plant is in a locked state and reports say that there are tons of dangerous chemicals still locked inside. It is in a fairly populous end of the city and one shudders to think what would happen if something goes wrong again. But then, talk about responsibility.Plus, the long term effects of poisoning has caused and continues to cause such horrible sufferings. As a nation we are meek (sad to use that term but cannot think of anything else) people.

Even i want to ask the govt why have they not disbursed the full aid to the tragedy victims , thousands of children died or were permanently disabled. Investigations in the affected areas have revealed that 70 per cent of the children born before the disaster continue to suffer from respiratory diseases and 55 per cent from affected eyesight. Who should be hold responsible??
Raghuveer Shetty cool guys let us not get into a conflict bt find out what we can do.. yes we all are bunch of hypocrites..we just talk remember the innocents and heroes who gave their life and discuss abt all bt we actully do nothing for them. tell how many of us have taken a step[ ahead sacrificing our bedroom comforts to help ppl out there?
Nameet Dhawan Before asking anyone else, i wud ask you wat ahve you done for the ppl suffering frm this tragedy? Other than posting comments and playing blame games wat ahve we done for the society and the needy? to an extent we all are responsible .. we tallk abot all the issues and evil practises goin on in our society bt we dont do anything to stop them b'coz we all love ourself and out comfortable life we don want to put ourself in any conflict.

Bhopal Gas Tragedy considered as the Hiroshima of chemical disasters, having taken about 20,000 lives till date and left more than 1,20,000 people with chronic ailments. But it seems that govt is in no mood to compensate the poor and destroyed.
Mridul Barua The problem does not end here, government of India has quietly allowed the Dow Chemicals to set up a research center in Maharashtra... heights of irrresponsibilty and greed for money!

The Bhopal gas disaster the worst tragedy of the industrial era. Methyl isocyanate gas leaked from the factory, affecting more than 500,000 people. Report say 7,000 people died within three days of the gas leak. After 20 years, there are as many questions unanswered as the number of people who have died since that fateful day. How did the factory's accident management systems fail? who is to blame?
I want to ask Why, after even after 25 years, has the Indian government still not disbursed full aid to all the victims? Who is accountable for all the mishap?

Anirban Sengupta Guys do you know why you are talking or discussing it? coz media takes an effort to bring out theses issues and constantly remind us of them. How many of us knew it was 25th anniversary of zBhopal tragedy before reading newsaper or watching TV. Do we actually mean wat we are typing????
Lakshya Chandrana .. Even children born after the disaster have not been spared. Doctors have warned taht the worse effects remain to be seen. Parents inhaling the noxious fumes are likely to pass on genetic aberrations to their children either through breast milk and even genetically.

In spite of several cases pending against Dow in Bhopal and several PILs in Supreme Court, the government is paving the way for Dow to enter from backdoor. This is an insult to the 20,000 dead and hundreds of thousands still suffering... What a shame?
Aarti Nair What has changed for the poor victims of the tragic event? They are still strugling and bearing the pain. its very sad that it takes 25 yrs for nour govt to even consider them and compensate them with the full amount. Which is still pending.... 25 long years?
