Guys, don’t you think cricket off late has been ridden with too many controversies in the recent past. Mud slinging, dubious umpiring, ugly sledging, ball tampering, match fixing, pitch brawls, drug scandal – it is only controversies galore.

Today you are one hell of a cricketer only if you can argue with umpires, abuse opponents and behave like a pressure cooker on the field.In any corner of the world today, no cricket series is ever complete without its share of controversies. If not players or teams, it is coaches, officials, boards – one or the other gets involved in some kind of conflict.

It hurts more when we see veterans fall into the trap. Buchanon’s book is just a recent addition. Take a leaf out of any of the autobiographies by the recently retired cricketers. Each smells of ugly mud-slinging – either towards another veteran or an opponent team.

It seems the gentleman’s game has lost its marbles. Money, competitiveness or fans’ expectation – What is it that led to such decadence of values? – 'Its lack of sportsman spirit and crazy money' says Piyali. Do you agree or not ?

Symonds- the real bad boy In 2005, he was suspended for a couple of games just before their only ODI loss to Bangladesh. Does anyone remember Greg Mathews? He was a part of the team that toured India in the late 80's. Steve Waugh was part of the team. Greg was, I think, the man of the series. Bhajji's racial slur Harbhajan Singh was charged against ICC code of conduct and eventually banned from three Test Matches, by match referee Mike Procter. The entire episode was given a racial color.
