Budget 2009: India writes to Finance Minister (Public)

Description :

Dear Finance Minster,

As you get ready to present the first budget in your second innings as the Finance Minister, we, the people of India, choose to voice our expectations through this forum.

Sir, the last one year, you are already aware, has been excruciatingly painful for us. The tailspin of the economic downturn worldwide has dealt us one blow after another.

Each day we woke up to the horror of getting blasted away by the terrorists. Slipping GDP growth kept adding wrinkles to our forehead. We lost money in the business of real estate, export and stock market. Oil prices burnt a hole in our pockets. Skyrocketing food prices made us struggle harder to earn a square meal. And finally, we got laid off.

Still the trust of aam junta on your government did not waiver. We lauded your hard fought battle against dissident coalition partners to earn nuclear self-dependence for the nation.

As the elections came, instead of buying the dreams of IT revolution, we chose to keep faith on our economist Prime Minister’s promise to contain the aftermath of global recession. You swept back to victory.

We voted you in the hope of good governance. In the hope of curbing inflation, of turning the sliding economy around. In the hope of bringing the off-shored black money, back home.

Our expectations are not many. We want national safety and social security. Proper implementation of poverty-eradication schemes. Better infrastructure. And jobs for our hands and that of our children.

The haggard aam aadmi of this country, on whom your government rode back to victory, is now looking for respite. Are you listening, sir?

Skewed Logic or Screwed Economy?? I can understand 'screwed' economies! I can also understand marijuana legalisation. I can even understand that if California becomes the first state to legalise marijuana it can garner a decent sum by way of taxes! We expect filmy dramatic change in our lives like LS elections you won We expect benifits of our level with your budget. Not like what ever happening nothing changed to us. Our needs are food prices, petrol prices, tax decrease, security i.e. improvement of police sector. farmers development, housing which are common needs. Tax free earning* give tax while earn & spend on anything, Why? Look when you earn 'you have to pay tax and when you have to eat 'you have to pay tax. New Investment Strategies - Schemes ! My idea is to allow new investment schemes to encourage people from education to health. Like, all marriage registrants should invest on a certificate which matures at 5 yrs (1-5k rs) when they are likely to have their first child. Order Income tax dept.to clear all refunds I am sure all working professionals will lobby this, a large section of aam admi has paid income-tax and filed IT returns for refund of excess tax paid by them and/or deducted from their income. Some relief measures for Exporters please !! Exports have slumped owing to declining global demand for goods. The dip in exports has in turn affected employment in many sectors such as gems and jewellery, handicraft and textiles - all labour-intensive areas where thousands of artisans have been left jobless.So we hope it should have some relie.. My concern: Rising fuel prices !!! This time, oil prices have soared at an even worse time when the world is in the midst of a recession.Rising fuel prices, for instance, means the oil import bill is going to shoot up this fiscal and in turn this will for sure trickle down to the end consumer...Hope the rising prices dont dent our po..
