A lot is being said across news channels about whether Sachin should retire or continue playing the ODIs in Team India. I was reading someone saying that if 'Sachin won't be playing in the World Cup in 2015, then he should get retired now'.
But WHY?? What do you guys have to say on this? Should Sachin Tendulkar retire now?

As all u know, sachin in the team just bcz of his seniority, i think after victory of World cup, sachin ko retirement announce kr deni chahiye thii, that was the very good time for him to quit his cricket and give chance to new comers.
Now sachin just want to get his 100th century , and selectors also want the same, but this is not good for cricket game.
All the teams focus on sachin's 100th century , against good teams sachin still unable to do so, he will make it against a low team as he done in past.

After taking retirement, a journalist asked Sunil Gavaskar, "Why did you retire when you are playing so well", to which Sunny replied, "I retired because i wanted you'll to ask me why DID you retire instead of why DONT you retire".
Same applies here. No doubt Sachin has served Indian Cricket for more than 2 decades and has earned himself admiration and respect from Janta, Critics and fellow cricketers. It is important that a player of such calibre leaves on a high note and not pressurised to call it quits because of poor performance. Ricky Ponting was shown the door after constant failures and he rightly hung his boots. But, it was disheartening to see a player like Ponting forced to quit rather than retiring on his own. I admire Tendulkar and it is with that love and passion towards him that i feel he should retire from ODIs soon. But m also sure that aint happening before he scores that stupid 100th Hundred...

Its high time now that Sachin must thinks of his retirement, at least from ODI. He has been given enough opportunities and he is playing for the country for more than two decades. No doubt that his contribution to the Indian Cricket is extra ordinary but it does not mean that he takes his place in the team as granted. I think under this retirement think or record thing the real cricket is lost and people are too coherent. Does cricket mean only world cups to which Dhoni says India is always preparing. Is not cricket about entertainment to which Sachin is best at? I think we are giving too much importance to sachin than cricket. @Amit Shinde is the one who understands cricket than any other people in India. He just understand one thing of sachin retiring soon. You just know if age is 40, one should retire, you do not think game is about entertaining people and is not about pride. What if he strikes form at the age of 40? remember form is temporary, Class is permanent. This is the problem with Sachin Fans. lets think pragmatically. No one wants to see Sachin dropped from the side due to poor performance. HE SHOULD RETIRE FOR HIS OWN GOOD.

Its time to kick-out the people who is saying 'Sachin should retire'. Nevertheless sachin thinks himself of retirement, nobody should threw their ugly nose in the issue of retirement. Since sachin himself has not showed any expression over retirement, when he is still playing for country, how the country brutes are just barking about his retirement. Greedy Ghosts: Thanks for your reply. It seems you are out of control of yourself. First of all, I am not a sachin fan, I just enjoy good cricket from good cricketer. Without knowing anything about cricket, you are just saying as you like. Better know cricket, play cricket and understand cricket then talk. It is not the people you & I decide about sachin's retirement. Its sachin himself. Do comment after thorough about a subject. Sachin is out of form now but that is for the time being. He may come back strongly. Time is needed. This thing is known to a even primary school child. As far as physic test it's not physic its "Psychic". Better know things and then comment. Hmm..Kapil has asked Sachin to Retire immediately...When it was time for Kapil to retire, he kept dragging. even though I was a great fan of Kapil, I felt very bad of him at that time.
Same with Ganguly - when he was the captain, he even said "I will never take up the commentary Job"...Now he gives his views that Sachin should give up One Dayers...Come on Ganguly, they had to virtually kick you out of the team...

It will be better if BCCI gives some deadline to Sachin to end his career, like they did for Saurabh Ganguly. Sachin has given us, Indians, a lot of happiness and joy. It is sad to see him being humiliated. Hopyfully wiser counsel will prevail.

No he shouldn'r retire now. He is still fit and playing better than the rest. Except for Dhoni & Gambhir for few matches no one seems to be in touch. Surprisingly in a team game while rest including few newbees given chance no one till now has able to adopt to the condition even after more than 2 months keeping aside cementing a place. Sachin can have a plan to gradually to move out of the smaller as well the large formats provided the next gen show some kind of stability.

This post should be open only for people who understands cricket. To all who have posted that we (India) should wait for Sachin to complete his 100th ton is utter non sense. I am biggest fan of Sachin and he has been my idol for past 22 years he played for India.
But it’s time now, India should move on. I cannot let my idol suffer from humiliating scores in recent matches. It’s very very important to retire at peak. No matter what you have done in past it’s at the time of retirement people know who you are. Compare it with retirements of legends like Saurav, Rahul, Ricky, Jaysurya with Steve Waugh, Gilly, McGrath, Langer, Gillespie etc. All latter retired at peak of their career. Jason Gillespie make double ton in his last test match. Cricket should be played to win and making nation proud rather that concentrating on individual performances and losing matches.
Do you really think that if Sachin score 100th ton in CB series and India lose that match there would be any significance of that 100th ton?
He should have retired immediately after world cup. Imagine Sachin retiring at his home ground with world cup in his hand. That would have been a fairy tale ending and at that time Sachin would be my GOD. Not retiring from ODI or Test just to complete his 100th ton is bull****.
He is holding a spot in Indian team which is not good for cricket. Why concentrate on next world cup? Forget about next world cup. It does not work that way.

@ Amit - Bingo!! i second whatever you said. I have admired Sachin through his entire career. A player like Sachin probably comes once in 1000 years. A true gentleman, a technically brilliant batsman. I would love to see Sachin bid goodbye to Cricket on a note that none of the other legends have enjoyed. But, its stretching a bit too far. Ideally, world cup would have been a place for him to call it quits. But that dint happen.
In India, fans are extremist. People here think retirement to SAchin is an insult to his very being. Thats stupid.
@Om - Comon man!! be realistic. Of course one spot is getting utilised by Sachin even though the entire team is not really performing. Even sachin as a youngster would have replaced some other player to become a legend. It is that chance Sachin got which he capitalised. The same would be for some other player sitting in bench because he'll have to wait till Sachin gets his 100th Ton.

Sachin will not be able to play every ODI from now on and definitely not in 2015 world cup. he will play only a few ODI series and hence selectors will find a hard situation to replace a more fit and in form player to accommodate Sachin in ODI side... so in this regard i think sachin should select only one form of cricket i.e. test or ODI... he will suyrely play IPL for atl;east 5 years... It will be better for him too as he will concentrate only one form... it is hard for a player of his age to cope up with the amount of cricket is being played.
