Topic owner: Sarthak Thammiah: Kudos to Team India to get us the Test No.1 status. Its a proud moment for all Indians. Special mention for Virender Sehwag has scored more runs than any other Indian batsman over the last 25 Tests - played over a two-year period beginning November 2007. His innings of 293 - played at a pace that left the bowlers ample time to finish the demolition job - proved pivotal as India fulfilled its destined tryst with the top slot.
Harbhajan Singh and Zaheer Khan have been India’s highest wicket-takers during this period. Both picked up six wickets apiece for the match, with Zaheer coming up with a five-wicket haul to polish off the tail on Sunday morning and take India to a comfortable win by an innings and 24 runs.

Guys there is no need to feel so proud in this. After some matches yo will see India is losing to weak team. This win is bcoz of our the players whom Dhoni never likes. Those players have gave him a good reply. He is lucky otherwise he has not been in the Indian team. He doesn't deserve a place in the team captaincy is a far away thing. Why u guys r praising him? I want a answer from the people who r praising him that what role he has if Sreesanth does this type of dream spell whom he even don't want to see. and Viru plays this type of dream inning whom he considers his biggest rival for captaincy. If the senior players like Laxman and Dravid r playing so good cricket. Where this indian team was when these senior players r out the team and the team was losing and no one was blaming him. Why? think guys before supporting him. The day when these seniors r fails where goes his 'karisma'.

I think all of us should cherish and enjoy the movement rather thinking about past or future. No1 Test Team ranking is deserved by India. India should play more tests and allow rotations of players. I reckon 20 tests a year with series of five each. make it day and night test.

I think we and our media always blows is out of propotion.
We just got number one and Media blew is large. BCCI gifted 25 lacks to cricketers and 10 lacks to selectors. Now we should think how we can be there for more period, at least for 3 months or so...... You have seen about one day ratings. We were number one only for a day.
So good luck blue boys for tough job of keeping it up.

Its a great effort and congrats to Indian team. We all enjoyed seeing them play so well over the last 2 years.
To be no 1 team consistently India has to do following things.
1)Find a genuine wrist spinner who bowls leg spin and googlies with good line and length.
2)Find a genuine fast bowler who bowls consistently above 140 - 145 kmph.
3)Find a bowling all rounder who is a genuine bowler but bats decently.
Doing the above should not be difficult as Indian board is cash rich and having so many resources. Only thing is sincere efforts are needed from board and it's selectors

Chahat Bhagat As much as I enjoy congratulating Team India on this victory, I am not fully convinced they are the best team in the world. Reasons:
1] Never won a Series in Australia.
2] Never won a Series in South Africa.
3] Won a series in Sri Lanka in 1994 [Last time]
4] Couldn't beat a depleted South Africa on our own soil convincingly.
4] The so called famed batting starts to look pedestrian the moment Sehwag / Gambhir are gone. [I respect SRT, RD and VVS - but this is a truth]
5] Bhajji is not a patch on Kumble and can't win outside India.
5] When Zaheer is on song, all's well. But when he can't fire... 750 / 7 [May sound Cruel but true]
So let's be guarded. India are technically No. 1, But I believe South Africa are a better Test Team at present.

Deepak Dahiya Lets not forget the contributions of mighty Kumble & the best captain of India Saurav Dada without whom this No 1 would have never been posible... Also all fuss about Sehwag is okay, but what about Dravid?? He is also scored 400 plus runs in this series!
