Express solidarity with Indians in Australia...

The latest event of Nitin Garg’s (an Indian student in Australia) being stabbed to death brought me back to this group, which I created back in June 2008, when Indian students were being beaten up in Australian streets every second day.

India should take a tougher stand and put some genuine diplomatic pressure on Australian Govt to stop this immediately.

The horrific incident only proves that, eight months on, but little improvement in the situations of Indians in Australia. There have been a number of talks but little action. Through this group, let us urge on our Govt to DO SOMETHING to save the innocent Indians in Australia.

We have been suffering for long becasue of our "so called wrong color" I would not call it racism but discrimination has been happening with us indians for long, jst bec of our brown color,, but indians students by and large have been taking it because they are by far less aggressive in nature and above all in a foreign land to study there. Appalling! Such behavior being meted out particularly to Indian students is absolutely appalling. This is bad for relations between the 2 countries & the Aussies stand to lose a lot! Been there...just some personal opinion My wife studied in UNSW for 2 years, staying close to university building in the city and sharing the apartment with 3 other international students. I used to visit her regularly and hence had a chance to stay and experience a bit of Australia along with her. We never experienced racism except for.. Its been happening for long i have a couple of friends residing studying and wroking in australia,, who confess racism is in the very blood of australians, there have been instances were the have been abused at workplaces, indian women too have been vicitms of abuse and it all at times boils down to they saying " you bloo..
