'Curry-bashing': Indians in Oz under attack!

What is more alarming 'is the future'?

A G
Topic owner: A G: As always, the protests would end and the issue will eventually die. However what would stay behind is the hatred and anger amid those from different backgrounds. One needs to recognize that it’s not just the Indian ‘students’ who are raising the voice over this overall pitiable law and order situation, it’s the members of all the ethnic communities as well. The only difference is that Indians are more in number and I would say rather more organised (well though-out) in taking the problem to the next level and hence the blame is on them.
Sydney and Melbourne are not new to this road side bashing and mugging. It’s been happening for ever. The simple difference is that this time it’s an International Headline and the Australian Government is under damage control mode. I am puzzled whether to thank the Indian Media for bringing it to the attention or blame it for over doing it. Either ways the message was passed loud and clear.

The other side:
What I am scared of now is what happens in the future? The other day I was working in my office (I am the only Indian in my team) and this guy says ‘Hey, guess what – the government is planning on making Harris Park and total Indian community town, well done man – you guys have earned it.” I am unsure whether these type of comments are classified as racist or “Bloody Indian”, “Indian dog” etc are more racists. For me, the former ones are more damaging because professionally how do you respond to it when in a team and everyone is paying attention, as for the later ones – its just shows the person’s background (lack of formal education and overall character). If you ask anyone what is the first reflection that comes to mind when you hear the word “Indian” – he will say “poor – weak – stuck up”. Now how do you change it? With protests, rallies or “FEAR”. Some one once told me that there are only 2 times when people will be with you - one when they have common objective or they FEAR you!

That’s what I feel – all comments are welcome – Please try to keep it clean. Everyone is educated enough (if able to read and write).

Amit Khan What's the difference between an educated racist and an uneducated one?
One wears a tie and a smile .
I am going through this mental battles myself. At times I sympathisize with the locals here , owing to the obnoxious behavior of many Indians, but in the back of my mind something assures me I might get the same treatment irrespective of education or etiquette. I am slowly coming to the conclusion that the irreprisable humanistic tendencies of segregation will always dominate our planet, and the only way to avoid such unpleasant situations would be to go back to one's own community.
Indian should gain respect in 50 years or so when the country becomes developed, so until then the options are to bite the bullet or return. A choice to be made by each individual.
