Topic owner: Saral Dutt: Good that more funds are coming in for welfare and infrastructure in the Budget for 2009-2010. I-T exemption limit has been increased by Rs. 10,000. Considering that only close to 1% of Indian population pays taxes, the benefits for the salaried class who pays tax looks to be considerably less than what was anticipated. Interesting part is that this 1% population usually don't have much impact on the election results.
