Topic owner: Jay Wardhan: There is always a cliched presentation of gays/lesbians in our cinema and television. Gays are always shown as caricatures , over effeminate , sex maniacs; drooling over each and every man etc. Some movies present them in a negative light, like; page 3 , metro (gays dating women and playing with their emotions, just to make a straight image in society) , Girlfriend ( a lesbian trying to separate the oh- so -pure straight couple ) , and fashion ( shows most of the gay fashion designers as arrogant and bitchy, asking for sexual favours to newcomers) , While in most movies such characters or their refrences are put only to give a comedy angle to the storyline ( Masti , Raja hindustani, kal ho na ho etc). Cinema has a great effect on our society and such a potrayl of gays/lesbians give a wrong idea about them to every one and specially to those who are not personally familiar with such type of people. If a movie shows any other minority (religious , social ) in a bad light , members of that community would vandalize , burn cinemas , would stop release of such movies , politicians would make a hue and cry over this ( just as Mayawati opposed a mere use of word 'chamar'{ a dalit cast} in a hindi song ), censorboard would also object, But such is not the case with sexual minorities becoz no politician support them , censorboard doesnt not give a damn to this issue( in fact this is not an issue for them at all ), and the most ironic reason that GAYS DO NOT REVOLT. Don't you think its the time that gay community should oppose this, a petition to this effect should also be filed ? Also censorboard should look into this and take this matter seriously as it is their duty to make sure that no section of society is being hurt, i mean if censoreboard can object a harmless kiss between two characters then why not this open injustice ??

Tanvir Raj i feel the same too and if any1 needs what they ndeserve and they r not getting it ppl shud revolt or stop crying bout it in my post named SOLUTION i have posted a few ways to revolt but sad;y got no response doing parades and blogging about it only wont help if one is not getting importance we dat person shud make its place for importance by force
