It is a fact that IPC 377 was framed by british and was never legislated by democratic India. It is at odds with the constitution which grants equality to all.
there is no logical reason why homosexuality is a crime. govt only says there are health risks. And the health ministry says yes, and that is why we need IPC 377 removed so we can fight AIDs better and save millions of babies from premature death.
Corrupt police officials want the law to remain as a revenue source via extortion and harassment of enemies etc. They are able to give no logical reason why it is immoral.
If it was merely that majority is against it, majority is against SC/ST reservation also. Majority wants SC/ST to be oppressed. But we still protect them in name of justice.
so why allow hypocrisy in case of gays?
When it is question of stoppoing AIDS, who cares whether celina is doing it for publicity?
She merely means that she is not necessarily a lesbian herself, but still is against an unjust law like IPC 377.
Gandhi was not a harijan but was still against harassment of harijans. If he stated "I am against harassment of harijans despite being a higher caste myself", what is wrong about it?
I will say it myself. I am a happily married heterosexual. And I am for fairness and justice and thus oppose harassment of gays, even though I am straight myself.
Is there a rule that I have to be a negro myself to criticize racism against blacks by white americans? Is there a rule I have to be gay to speak in their support?

Ok, let's assume for sumtime that she is doing it for publicity , but atleast unlike others ( read Rakhi Sawant ) she has not adopted a cheap way of publicity , at least she has chosen a noble and human way, i mean its becoz of her we have got a platform here to debate over this rather sticky matter , which our society has always been trying to hide under the rug.

Becoz, it is the tendency of people to judge celebrities , if sum one supports gay, ppl will say he/she is also gay ( i think that's why no male bollwood actor talk about this, and have to say that celina is brave enough to do this) , but this tendency is really foolish. Does she need to be lesbian to support this cause, if such is the case then those who r not HIV POSITIVE Shud not support AIDS awarness programme , rich people should not work to remove poverty , c'mon man ! there is a thing called 'HUMANITY'
