Got married last year in Nov. of late hav realised my mother-in-law has been trying to compete with me at all levels. She won't go out shopping with me, but alone n get almost the same things that i have got, even clips for that matter....I don't know how to react at times. Can't express with my hubby also guess will be too early.

The problem here is not the Mother in law or the daughter in law, think about it....... its the son who does not balance both the women in his lives well. The mother gets jealous of the daughter in law cause she has a competitor now where the cooking, looking after her son, etc are concerned its natural for that to happen, there is no daughter in law who will like that behavior either but it is up to the son to balance the relationships. Why does a mother feel the need to buy or dress like her son``s wife is because she wants importance from her son. If a son can successfully show both the women that his mother will always be important as a mother and his wife will always be his better half , the women will stop competing with each other they will be secured in their positions. Most mothers dont like letting go of their son but not daughters as this is instilled in our minds since childhood, many mother in laws are mean to their daughter in law coz they have suffered as a daughter in law so why shouldn't she is the attitude and only the son can bring a stop to this craziness. There is no justification for mother in laws who insult , harass, steal, accuse their daughters in law for various things as these daughters in law are going to live with their son for the rest of their lives, just shows that these selfish mothers dont care about their son at all, its just power play.

All you daughter - in- laws are nice and perfect. Only mother mother in laws are stupid because she is husbands mother. . What about your own mother. May be her daughter in laws also thinking same what you thinks.

I think u better request her to bring those items which you would have otheriwse bought for you when you are shopping. To start with only one or two items. By this she would be cosy to your thinking and needs and I do hope u both would be the best friends in the world, wanting each other always!

Don't be stupid, just ignore. This simply means that irrespective of the age, all women are same. Next time buy some pills also and show her....

i hate my mom in law coz she once told me on my face that she only has one daughter and that is my sister in law

i dont understand why mother in laws get soo freaky wen their sons get married..you should just ignore all this..she is just insecure coz there is another woman in her sons life..

A lot of people here will say its the daughter in laws responsible, but sometimes its the mother in law and their jealousy and insecurity that is the root cause of all issues.



My mother in law gets very insecure, they way i dress up, she tries to get dressed in a similar fashion, competes with me for saloon trips, wears the same nail paint, hair do what not, she forgets the 40 year age difference between us and ends up looking like a fool by copying me

ah, my mother-in-law is ditto. seems she's jealous of me. whatever I hv in my wardrobe, she has to hv the same. be it the color of my nail paint or dress, she wants to hv the same. god give her some brains!
