I am positive that the people responding here are no criminals. This probably irritated women since the officers comment was against their rights in general. Some responses to "can lead to" are only referring to whether wearing certain clothes lead to assault in some cases. It does not mean that other reasons do not exist. Neither do they mean that wearing some clothes will always lead to an assault.

Hence, while the rapists, the thiefs, the murderers, right to freedom and liberty SHOULD be taken away, the ones encouraging such things (like a man sleeping with his door wide open for the thief to come in) should know that they are the ones who will face the consequences of their carelessness.


No doubt women should have full liberty to wear any 'clothes'. But here the question is "what is clothes" -- are underwears also clothes? I beg to differ.


To answer your question: Rape can never be justified, even if the woman were to walk naked or for those arrogant women who walk alone at 2am thinking bad things cant happen to them. These women do NOT 'deserve' to be raped. The more important question is: Knowing the environment and society they live in, have they ensured to be careful, for their own sake? For at the end of the day, no matter how much one argues on what is right and not, it is the woman who will be traumatised for life.


Do some women wear miniskirts and see through tops to titilate the guys and seek attention? I firmly believe they do for this sole purpose. They will be safer, if they do so after showing an understanding of what environment/society they are doing this. The more closed/restrictive the society is, higher the 'probability/chances' of her getting abused.


In anything one does, one should be responsible - for their own sake and to enjoy their much deserved sense of freedom and liberty.
