I have been following this whole controversy about ban on contraceptive and morning- after pill ads on TV
and other media, I don't understand the logic behind it at all.
If nothing, these ads will help in reducing the number of abortions in India which for now is 7 million, 20,000 women die every year because of complications after abortion.

In a scenario like this, i think contraceptive ads should be allowed on TV. What do you feel members?

Speak up girls, its for all of us

it is the most disgusting ad in the media industry and it should be banned. Bcoz, in house when you watch TV all of a sudden this ads come. They educate to avoid conception. But to reality the girls are used to get more tablets from the medical stores. If u see mumbai mirror there is a seperate column which solutions are given to silly questions.

First of all India should stop censoring everything because some stupid ass gets offended somewhere. Secondly, If India calls itself democratic, it has to have freedom of expression. Thirdly, India has uncontrollably high population. Many of the Idiots need to be neutered and one child policy like China should be implemented. Lastly, contraceptive ads should not only be displayed but subsidized to be aired on every channel and in every commercial break.

Finally, In democracy everybody has choice to live it's own way. If someone wants to have sex and prevent the consequences who are these moral police telling others what they should or shouldn't do?

Some gynaecologists say the advertisements present morning after pills not as emergency contraceptives but as a way to have unprotected sex without worrying about getting pregnant. “Abortion say accha hai pregnancy ko rokna (it is better to stop a pregnancy than have an abortion),” says the I-pill ad, while the Unwanted-72 advertisement ends with the line “ab ham hain tension free” (we are now tension free).

i think the ads can be more clear, with clear distinction between contraceptive, over the counter pill and emergency birth control, maybe then these ads can be more useful

In India, there is not enough awareness on emergency contraceptives, so the situation needs to be tackled carefully.

For your kind information guys, we are missing an important point here.

The Drug Controller General's office banned advertising of all emergency contraceptives like Unwanted-72 and I-Pill on January, 2010, after serious concerns were raised that the ads were promoting the drugs as regular contraceptives and misrepresenting abortion.
So the real point is do these ads need to change.

But Gayatri, these ads were ban because girls misuse these pills, these ads promote the use of pills
