I am facing a big prob that 2 of my classmates have become my subordinates,unfortunately after my MBA i became their boss and they have to report to me,its very difficult moment for me to tackle this situation ,i have to behave like boss with the people i spent my time in college. sometimes its embarrassing too when by mistake i call them by their funny college nick name.suggest me some solution.Thanks in advance
Shalini i went through same twice office mean office professional no personal talks no family talks. after duty hours out of office boundaries only personal no office job related talks. No partiality duty mean duty straight forward yes mean yes No mean no keep one thing in mind that company will remain at one place but we workers have to meet again and again on different -2 locations so try be honest with workers as well as with company.

I understand your situation as I have gone through the same. As many of them have already said, dont mix up personal life with professional one. Try to maintain a certain distance, dont get involved in parties, dinners, lunch with your classmate colleagues. Also, in meetings and at work be sure what you are talking about so that you dont give them a chance to make fun of u. Lead by example. All these should happen gradually. Good Luck
well, it's really not a great idea to mix up ur professional and personal life with friends. u hv to make them understand that during office timings and within the office premises they hv to report to you and u also hv to behave like a boss - not rude though. otherwise, u are always friends with them
Shalini profession and friendship are different entities. Well be a boss in office work n change as a friend after office. I know its easy say than done but its a protocol a boss has to follow. Which will be good for u n them.
It is only you can control. As per my understanding the funny colleage nick names are first used by yourself. A small change in you i.e behaving like a boss in office hours and as a friend in rest of the time. Also making it clear to your friends that you all will be on same page according to the place your are in....
