Faking illness at work

Rajat Sawant
Topic owner: Rajat Sawant:

I have a colleague at work who keeps faking illness to get unnecessary leaves and sympathy.
It is becoming a habit with him and it is irritating to see this as we put in so much effort in our job.
Should I complain to the big boss?

first u should try to counsel him as he is ur good friend. If he does not understand, u may tell the big boss in his interest.

Inform the boss discretely and also suggest to have a company nominated doctor. Any one falls sick should produce company nominated doctor's certificate.

Whenever he takes a sick leave, buy a flower basket with a well wishes card, take your boss along and give him a surprise shock visit to his place, then see the reaction. Why do u want to complain.

Dont worry. Your colleague does not know that by making people believe he is sick , he is also sending out a clear message to management that he is becoming medically unfit. Your managers are wise enough to notice and understand these. SO, I am sure they will take actions on your colleague.
