HI Krish. First of all a hearty congratulations that you plan to get married to your GF. In my opinion, being in the same profession is definately an advantage but before that intelligence, emotional, financial compatibility is important. Your views on various aspects of life, attitude towards life etc are important parameters for successful marriage. All the best.

You and your gf being in the same profession does not guarantee a successful marriage. Over expectations are one of the main reasons for breakdown of relationships. The most unpredictable thing in this world is the human mind. So don't forget the saying "Always hope for the best, but be prepared for the worst".

The problem will be when one gets ahead of another especially in terms of compensation. If she gets ahead of you, the male ego will kick-in. If you get ahead of her, the female jealousy factor may creep in. Find something unrelated to work to talk about or do when you are together. Like they say "all work and no play makes jack/jill a dull boy/girl." Good luck.

It will be boring. If it is same department, it is worse. You may have to fight officially also, in addition to your fight at home. The official competition for growth in the company some times is not healthy at least for the male partner. It can lead to misunderstandings (or call it difference of opinions)

it's not true in my case my gf is also in the same profession as mine but we don't get along much since we don't have anything new to share, our conversations revolve around our work, our views & perceptions about work and related topics is different so we always end up arguing...My relationship has become a pain!

You both seems to be obsessed with your work! Probably ypou shouldn't talk about work and related jobs when together...
