Sunando Banerjee
Sunando Banerjee very good movie. Amitabh once again showed why the world needs to wait for long to have another actor of his caliber. Abhishek also shows maturity. But Vidya Balan was amazing in her role. Another good part of the movie is the way it dealt with this disease. I think the director and writer Balki has done real wonder!!

A K Punj
A K Punj Frankly Speaking, I just like the acting of Amitabh Bachan, otherwise in the movie there was nothing but just few hours of entertainment. It was looked like Abhishek was being promoted to be a good politician. Who know in the next UP elections he will file his candidature!!! The main theme of the movie "Progeria" was seems lost somewhere. I watched "Tare Jamin Par", where similar theme "dyslexia" was handled very well, sending awareness in the people and how to handle the situation in the society. In "Paa", there is only one instance where the interaction of the rare disease with common person in society is shown, and handeling of this situation was somewhat rude. Where mother is almost abusing the other lady of asking the question. Instead this could have been directed differently in more subtle manner.

Hats off to Amithabh Ji.

Rita S
Rita S Hello Everyone,

I have nothing against Bachans,Khans or for that matter any actor....I am giving my unbiased reviews on this movie...

I had initially thought its gonna be a nice movie for a change or something different...But un4tntly it wasnt....Everythng could be predicted right from the beginning.....Abhi wasnt good. lik in Yuva/Bluffmaster.....he was ok!!! Nothing grt abt Big B either!!! Ithink any other actor was fine in his role....Paresh Rawal, a good actor, was a waste for the character.....Only people worth the watch in the movie were VIDYA BALAN & her mom....n the kids....Overall the movie was ok....i dont thnk any1 shud regret not watchin it.....n finally i felt the concept was stolen from JACK!!!

P Nair
P Nair Watched Paa on Saturday with my family including my aged mom and two kids. Theatre was packed to capacity, most of them families. How many of us can take our small kids and aged parents to any of today's movies? Paa is a safe bet, thoroughly enjoyable. Critical subjects (Progeria, Sex before marriage, Role of media, Role of parents etc.) handled in most subtle way, laced with humour. Not even a minute was wasted. Amitabh at his best delivered a sterling performance. Abhishek and Vidya as usual are good. Paa's grandma (he calls him Bum!) is an excellent actress. Balki knitted the threads impeccably. A very good film to take your family without any inhibition.

Girish Vijaykumar Ligde
Girish Vijaykumar .. It was a nice directed and acted movie covering so many topics i) Child b4 marriage, ii) Progeria, iii) Politics in India, iv) Corruption and v) Media's role in politics.

And offcourse humor of 'Auro' was awesome.

And not the least is today's childerns view about their parents (Vishnu abt his father ;-0)

Kidding....it was so funny...

Joy De
Joy De I ddi watch the movie on my B'Day and as a result of respect, took my dad along with me. The movie turned out to be an utter surprise as I didnt had much expectation from it.

The movie was in the context of TZP, however I loved the blend done by Balki in the story lineup. He didnt pull the movie unnecessarily. The blend was of little bit of Romance, Single parenting, Modern politics, Proper usage of media and not to forget the disease progeria.

The acting skills of Vidya Balan, abhi and vidya's mother role was fantastically acted. AB's make up stole the show and his voice modulation as always adhered to his role with complete justice, albeit not much variation were required as per his role.

The cinematographic did a creative depiction of the scenes of slight dark shades in the house of Vidya balan.

Overall a good movie.

Archit Agarwal
Archit Agarwal Excellent movie in such a long time. Direction was too good.

I can't believe for entire movie that Aura role is played by Big B (truly amazing).. I was not sure and therefore checked out the make of this film to know how Aura character is played by AB.

Vidya is extremely good as Aura's mother. AB jr was good in the second half of the movie and he seems to be following his father footsteps quite well. Arundhati Nag was also good.

Excellent movie.must watch.

It is good that our Bollywood industry is making film on these touching issues and making people aware of it.

Aacheptarra Emo One of the most disgusting and annoying movies in recent history. Too much over-action by Big B and too little by small B are the two performances to take away from this movie. Just pure unadulterated disrespect to the paying public.

Rahul Julka
Rahul Julka Dear Movie watcher, you seem to have a personal dislike for Mr. Bachhan and it is becoming very obvious by your comments that you have forgotten to treat the biggest star of this country with respect. I think your comments reflects your upbringing or else you would not be using words like Idiot for Best and most respectable actor India has ever produced and for godsake this forum is to Discuss Paa and I don't understand where repeatedly khans feature in PAA. I didnot see anyone of them in the movie. So, my advice is to sound your opinion good or bad without showing affiliation to any camp. It seems from your comments that one of the Khans is writing under fake identity out of insecurity. Little maturity and dignity is expected while you are commenting as your Id reflects how insignificant you are as you can not even show your real name,so, atleast people who have done well and have an identity, please do not ridicule them. Your comments believe me will do good then any harm to very dignified Mr. bachhan.
on Sun, 06 Dec, 2009
Mahendra C Rahul, Well said...I also think one of the Khan is writing this hateful content with insecurity. I remember similar few hatemails while Black was released and I had to literally fight with them on net.
I further say...this MovieWatcher is not a watcher at all, I think he is from one of the marketing team of "PAA" itself, he is actually making the movie famous and making some more people to watch movie. You never know, today;s marketing fundas are different than our times, say 25 years back.

Amit Tiwari
Amit Tiwari

Amitabh sir (Yes sir....after watching and feeling his performance) is truly a master of bollywood. Other characters were good too. Movie moves in a moderate pace, with light hearted jokes which keeps the smile on ur faces and certainly doesnt sound intentional. Everyone did a good job, must say Vidya'a acting is kool too. Rahul Julka
Rahul Julka Horrible sense of cinema, You do not even understand difference between useless dance sex and action movies and a masterpiece. For your info what these guys are doing today was done by Mr Bachhan nearly 3 decades ago. He is still a delight to watch, thats the only reason that all people who understand cinema still want to cast him in lead roles and even write scripts keeping him in mind. At this age he is still one of busiest actor of the country. He is a Mega Mega Star, I can understand your views about movies and so I do not blame you that you are unable to understand the difference between a hallmark and a trendy flick. It requires a lot of maturity to be there. You have to evolve from a Movie Watcher to a Movie analyst. Critisism is healthy as long as it is fair.

Swetha Dinesh
Swetha Dinesh Paa is a wonderful movie with excellent performances by all cast. Especially Vidya and Amitabh take the honours. Bum and Paa also acted very well. What seemed to have gone unnoticed is the efforts of PC Sreeram (cameraman), Ilaiyaraja (music) and R Balki (the director). These three guys have given the overall performance such a boost that it is impossible for the film to be enjoyed otherwise. A must watch film for guys who enjoy sensible movies. If you are a fan of crap comedy, this is not the movie for you. Three cheers to Amitabh, Abhishek and Vidya and equally three cheers to Balki, PC Sreeram and Ilaiyaraja

Vishesh Paul
Vishesh Paul Paa was a very pleasant surprise. I went to the feeling that it s going to be one of those hyped-up movies with lot of heavy emotional dialogues, where everybody's crying. but it turned out to be different. good humor, some soft moments and good flowing story. performances were excellent- Vidya did her job very well and Abhishek played the role with such impressive ease. But as expected, the star of the movie was Big B or rather 12 year old B this time. Fantastic performance by Amitji. The way he got into a child's mind and presented on screen is worth a lot of appreciation. In accordance with many other reviews, there is no hint of Amitji in this film. Not at all. Performances by the rest of the crew were also very good- Bum(very good), little girl in school (cute), and Auro's friend in school(the way he described his fights with his dad was hilarious). Overall, a movie definitely worth watching. Amitji will sure be nominted for this role

Mohammad Shadan
Mohammad Shadan Watching a movie first day is the most cherished feeling which is difficult to explain in a few words. When I was entering to watch Paa (one of the most awaited movie of the year), there were many 7-8 years old children dressed in cute winter wear running up and down the stair case doing the monkey dance ( it was a real heart warming thing to watch) . Start of the movie, for me was one of the highlights of the movie which actually sets the tone of the movie. Jaya Bachchan in her child –like very, adorable natural self introducing the entire caste. It was a risk takn by the director which paid off well.

The movie starts with the new age politician Amol Arte (Abhisheik Bachchan) attending the award ceremony of a school where he meets Auro (Amitab Bachchan) ,a 13 years old child who suffers from a genetic disease called Progeria ( where the body grows 5 times faster than the actual age).Auro introduces himself with the monkey dance on the stage ,and along with him all the kids in the theatre joined him.Needless to say everyone had already entered into Auro’s world. There is an instant emotional connect between him and the audience . Auro, ,lives with his single mother “mum” aka Vidya (vidya balan) and “bum” aka grand mother (Arundhati Nag) .He makes her “bum” runs in the kitchen, throws tantrum at his mom ,converses with king kong, has a portrait of Jackie Chang in his room, has a warning at the entrance of his door which reads “knock or else I would knock you off).He is super confident, intelligent, wity ,humorous ,popular and lovable among his friends and runs away from girls. His friends are as cute as he is and deliver to perfection. The movie goes deeper into the life of Auro in the second half where he finds out about his father who didn’t want to have him in order to fulfil his career as a successful politician, and how his dying fate reunites his parents. And in the process develops a relationship with his father.

Script writer and director R.Balki shoud be applauded for a crisp script and doing justice to it. As earlier with the director ‘s last outing the script, the dialogues, the background score, performance of the lead actors, editing are to perfection. A special mention should be made of the witty one liners throughout the movie...Trust me you would love them.

Coming to performances, mention should be made of Arundhunti Nag who is simple amazing in the role of grandmother. She looks so natural in the role and you actually feel the warmth she oozes so effortlessly. She is brilliant in the movie. This has to be the best performance of Vidya Balan after Parineta, though her role is not itched out well yet she delivers a very mature performance. Her performance can be aptly be summed up by Arundhunti Nag when she says , “Ek aurat jab akele apne bacche ko paalti hai, uska dil sakht ho jaata hai, narm sirf apne bacche ke liye.” That very aspect of a ‘sakht par narm dil’ woman Vidya remarkably fetches out from her inner strength. Abhishek in the role of a enthusiastic, corrupt free , young politician does justice to the role. This has to be AB juniors most subtle and mature performance after Guru. You can see the AB junior maturing as an actor. Now finally, AB senior,....well AB senior has reached a crescendo where he does not require any praises. He is just perfect as always. The potty humour of Auro, the one liners, just name the scene and Auro is brilliant. Especially the scene between him and his friend where he Auro asks him about the similarities between him and his dad,or the one where he makes his grandmother run after him,or even where he meets his dad and ofcourse the last scene, he is brilliant. Though it is not his best performance, but it is one of his best performances. The best part was he let audience fall in love with Auro and his aura takes the backstage. Thats the hallmark of a great actor, allowing the character to grow and keeping d actor’s personal charisma backstage. A small mention should be made of Pratik, a young child actor (friend of Auro) who has some of the most rib tickling lines in the movie.

So where does the movie miss out??At times the movie threatens to fall apart but somehow the actors manages to hold on the script together. Like the director’s last outing Chinnekum, where inspite of a good script the movie failed because it failed to create an emotional connection with the audience .However in this movie, its Auro’s world tat creates the emotional connect with the audience. As soon as the story deviates from Auro’s life, goes into the sub plot of the moral role of the media should play, or the young educated politician wanting to change India, the story seems to fall out.

The background score gells well with the script and none of the songs looks out of place. the camera work is clean and smart and editing, sound recording and make up are top notch.

An applaud to the chemistry shared by the son-father duo of Bachans. Whenever they were on screen, audience were glued to their seats. They both completed each other effortless as if playing their real life ,just that the roles were reversed. The last scene was the most touching scene of the movie, where a dying Auro reunites his “maa” and “paa” and gets his rightful identity of a son and not being a basterd. Interestingly, the word “paa” is uttered by Auro only once in the movie and its the last word of the movie. It not a great movie but its a movie which should be watched and the movie wont disappoint you. Watch it with ur maa, paa, bum (grandmother) and friends, and enjoy the monkey dance.

Gaurav Sinha
Gaurav Sinha Rather than Paa the movie's name should have been Big B's Paa , it was almost marvellous to watch him in the role , I think he has reached the best period of his acting and he can be compared to Tom Hanks,Al Pacino, Robert DeNerio ......., a must movie to watch if u want want to see some serious , mature acting and one of the best direction.........

Anil Kumar
Anil Kumar Firstly i want to thank Mr. R. Balakrishnana to show a great relationship of a child and father. After a long dry spell a movie, that is watchable with family. I liked the acting of Mr. Amitabh Bachchan because in this stage doing this type of acting is just unbelievable. The dialogues were awesome specially one that when Auro speaks "why all politicians wear white". This is not a movie like black. you will enjoy watching this cinema. A child suffering from any type of this disease or handicap must watch this cinema. This will be a true inspiration for them The one thing that i didnt like personally was that the plot was not good.I mean i was knowing what was going to happen next. My rating for this movie is 4 out of 5.

Binu Mathews
Binu Mathews Just when you think Amitabh Bachan has done it all......he produces yet another stunning performance. I totally disagree with Sandeep Mathews but he is entitled to his opinion!!! Its about human realations a boy friend & a girl friend (Abhishek & Vidya), a mother & daughter (Vidya & her mother) , a father & son(Paresh & Abhishek), a father & son (Abhishek & Auro) a mother & son ( Vidya & Auro), a grandmother & grandson, Friends..Auro & friends..Life...Challenges we face and how to see the positives in everything around us & in everything that happens to us...it is truly an exceptional movie for all ages..Don't Miss It ...please.
