What makes you say that? there are thousand of example where a movie or a star become a huge hit because of their songs.. Remenber Emraan Hashmi? and its not at all the way Mr Aamir thinks.... I saw 3 Idiots.It is Very agood Movie , but aamir did nothing extra in this movie. the main charcter is Chattur....

Did Amir said it is ONLY the damn star who makes the song hit????? He never said that ...he said the royalty should be given to Lyricist , Music-composer, Singer, Stars and the technicians. Why on this people are saying that he said only stars makes the songs hit???? Why to potray something absurd and issueless here ?? Whatever Amir is saying is absolutely right.

What Rubbish! - No Star is bigger than songs....I guess Javed is absolutely right...people forget the lyricist and the actor too but the lyrics will never die.....wake up...aamir is proved that he is an Idiot in this case.....There are thousands of good songs with no major actor in them....Its even silly to think of saying actors are bigger than lyrics....

Aamir is too overboard. He does not know many a times what he is talking. 50 years later people may forget Aamir, but Javed Akhtar's work will remain. Sholay was written by Javed, he is one of Salim Javed pair. How many Aamir films stand in front of Sholay.

I have hundreds of songs on my iphone from the 60's and 70's era and I listen to them repeatedly. More than half I do not know which movie they are from - the star is out of question. Let's take the latest example. None of the songs of MNIK are picturised on a star - they all run in the background, yet they are a hit.

For those of you who think Javed Akhtar is correct, please give me a list of 10 songs that you remember as great ones without any Major Star in the video.
Then again, there are many songs which have great stars, but the songs make you feel like committing a crime of murder of the music team or a suicide.
The point is, if the song is to be good, it needs to be written properly, and then executed nicely. And, major stars now do take care of what they are doing on screen, including the words they are lip-syncing in a song.
This is even more prominent when stars are the stakeholders (producer,director,etc) of the movie.
So, even though what Aamir said was incorrect on some part, it gets justified when you look at it from the perspective of a proffessional producer/director.

Vineesh Vedsen Do you remember the song Waqt Ne Liya Kya Haseen sitam more or that it is picturised on Waheeda Rahman in an almost dark room !!!!! Songs of 1950s are alive because of their lyrics and music more than anything. The worth of the professional producer/director is that they cannot create a single thing that would live the next 50 years, but poor unknown people have done what the 'professional' people still copy to make a living out of. Just think before you talk.

it actually is about writers and lyricist getting their royalties, and including mr khan all the producers are against it.. which according to me is unfair .. when a movie is hit, producers and actors take home a whopping amount but imagine poor lyricists and writers who get nothing compared to them.We are with you Javed ji..

Sam Vani It is aamir khan who has been taken for ride by Raju hirani.Raju gave him 20 min(or less)role in 3idiots and picturised two songs on him.He made him to believe he is the main character.Rju as everybody knows has developed more fan following than anyother star after munnabhai series.people were waiting for his movie and add to this aamirs fan following also it was bound to open with a bang.But Raju surprised everbody as he gave them a new star in terms of Chatur and his speech.I think RAJU did not give ear to Aamirs's suggestions as he wanted him for star power only to give his movie publicity.He knew he has a new star in CHATUR to keep movie alive after initial draw.All you remember from this movie is CHATUR ,some JOKES and ofcourse the SONG(AAL IS WELL).IN this song aamir was kept in the middle of two other lead players to keep him happy.It would not have mattered even if he would have been kept on either sie or on
the back also.The problem with Aamir is that adirector will not take a risk to show his close- ups because he looks too old.Remember when he confronts boman irani at funeral.He looks older than irani and very unconvincing.Again a cry scene when he hides behind the wall,he looks post-mature and absurd.He should thank raju whose genius direction made fans to forgive him this time for miscasting the lead actor.Let aamir watch his movie TZP without those wonderful songs picturised on child star(NOT on AAMIR),he wiil be surpised to notice that it is avery dull documentry on dyslexia.Those songs made women to cry a lot and helped the movie the MOST.

Vineesh Vedsen film industry just waits for few flop films of an actor to throw him away, remember Rajesh Khanna. He was a far bigger star in those days than Aamir is today, but there came a day, he became Mr. Nothing.
