Topic owner: Piyali Bannerjee: i think terrorism today has become a global problem, & hence it also needed to be tackled at that level. moreover one aspect which could help in tackling terrorism is to learn how to prevent them. We should expect the unexpected and that's how the security agencies of a country should work ideally! A year after 26/11, can we the common people without pausing for a sec get up and say that we are safe and protected?

although the notion of ignorance is best is an very outdated one, i was happy with it. ever since 26/11, my ignorance has given way to more knowledge about the happenings in general. compounded with this the shameless approach of both politicians & police by way of the blame game which ultimately shows that human tragedy is more for petty gains for such people & the common man is left to fend for him/her self. in the circumstances, it is difficult to feel safe.

believe in ourselves is the initial step which we a youth are not taking ............we can change the course of time but we need to unite for that...we will have to bear such incidents again the future if we dont take a step now......i know as for now we are just writing and it is not our fault...i appeal all friends to unite...and believe that we can atain complete peace...we can supress the unwanted accidents which somhow have become the daily news for all of us and we r sick of it........

After a year still we are not safe, every now and there there is terror warning given to us.. But what is Government doing, there are just doing High Alert in that area itself,What about the rest? I think Indian Government is too Weak to take this attacks as there is no strict rule in India to stop this Once the terrorrists is caught they are taken for investigation ,and this case goes on for years.these terrorist are aware abt such issues and they know nothing can be done by Indian Government.A strict rule must be made as such type of terror occurs no one should be leaved alive to go from this country. All our policemen should be given riffles, and shoot out at spot orders. All the real culprits should be hanged to death,be it a terrorists or a politician.then only these crimes are going to stop finally
Pankaj Kumar Ukey " But what is Government doing, there are just doing High Alert in that area itself,What about the rest?" let me answer this : do u really think tht we have enough police force to alert high in all the areas. Government put some area on the high alert on the report given by intelligence agencies. to consider all the areas as sensitive might be a quixotic idea. U demanded for the stringent law which is really essential. " All our policemen should be given riffles, and shoot out at spot orders" All the policeman has 3x3 rifle with them but they don't have a advance fighting combat equipment like AK - 47 which terrorist use and our police man don't even use Colt which is predominately used by SWAT (US). "shoot out at spot orders" police man do have a authority to kill someone on orders but they really need a valid and very strong reason to do that. If government flexible this valid reason criteria, there might be a possibility that the police may use this to serve their own purpose, for example : fake encounter. To fight against terrorism there is only one way, government has to unite people by doing development and welfare, only then the traitors in our own country will not born and we would be able to fight against the terrorism which is coming from across the border. " Without internal support, terrorism at india can't flourish, and government must act to win the belief of people irrespective of their religion, cast, region.

Answer :After a year ya i do feel safe ......but not at the time wen the live videos were being shown on news .if u ask this question to one who was inside the taj hotel or the one who was inside cama hospital giving birth to her child or the one who was on CSt station or the one who was recording the footage shown to us these are just few of them ...if u want a real answer ask these people .Ask frankly to yourself the ones who were siting in front of television sets and moarnin such incident do you really fear to walk on streets or enjoy a rany afternoon near gateway or a bear in lepold cafe.the answer u'll get is no .and we mumbaikars have become so strong that terrorist can kill us bt they can never kill our fear fighting soul our unty is best seen when the try to break it.......so as a proud indian and a spritful mumbaikar will never feel afraid and get carried away by fear because of the foolish and coward acts of terrorists.....

it's been a one year since that cataclysm event happened. The incident which happened is a terrorism for us but for the extreme fundamentalist it is an ideology. it is easy to kill people rather than suppressing ideology.Extirpate terrorism may take several years, may be we can't see the change in our life. Now the question is are we safe ? obviously not, If I see this situation in a people's perspective, I would say that the government has done nothing to dismantle terror. But let's look at the situation in a perspective of government. Though we have intelligence agencies, military, police force, yet we failed to take them down. why ? because the terrorist has the same physical appearance as us and they speak the same language what we speak ( hindi). Other than this the mayhem like 26/11 couldn't be possible without the local support. The government may be doing their best to protect us. but they merely change the perspective of traitors who are inside this country. It is easy to fight against someone who has his own territory. but if we have mir jafar or vibhishan inside our house, till then we can't feel safe. Other than this population is a major issue. I think the every other major or minor issue comes down to population. Had we have less population, it would have been easy to detect inside traitors. Government must take the major steps to flourish the country. To flourish the country, we need to unite not just by words but by heart. The day we become secular about everything and don't distinguish the people based on their religion, cast, region, we will eradicate terrorism of any type ( including hindu terrorism) , since then everybody will be indian only.

It is not only 26/11 that has shattered each and every one of us . International terrorism has been growing at an alarming rate over the years , consider the ‘93 blasts or the serial blasts that shook Mumbai in ’06 and Delhi in ‘08. Move must be made towards curbing terrorism at the earliest ,and for this the Govt. has to take quick action otherwise incidents like 26/11 would continue to occur. Today even going out to the nearest mall in our cities seems so risky , its not that we fear being attacked by a terrorist but, crimes like, eve teasing , pick pocketing, rape etc . happen around us . So its man that has become his worst enemy .its about time that we start thinking and caring for each other and “be human” so that there is peace .

well if we dont consider terrorism....still we are not safe...infact we were never safe ....if we dont die bcoz of terrorism ,a road accident will kill us(people never understand if we dont drive safe ..we kill ourselves n others as well) or we may die in roits or some religious n bullshit protests (our politicians have hand in that....common people are not too far)or insurgency(its different from terrorism now) ,,,etc...have many reasons....i mean endless....for some women may be due to exploitation.....n u know all are responsible for all this.....so we all have no right to get up n ask this question....bcoz its we who dont want to live n dont want others to live....so people dont raise such questions.....n for god sake stop blaming system....bcoz we are a part of it( including me ...bcoz i do same thing as you do....blaming others n finding xcuses)...

One year after the infamy, India, divided by politics, doesn't know what to do with its enemy or with its much-mauled nationalist soul. Sorry to say but, we are as clueless as we were on that dreadful November night one year ago.

The only question i keep asking myself is when will we ever learn from our mistakes or faults rather. Why is the government waiting for things to happen and not wanting to make it happen. blame games or talks & discussions are not going to help but quick and stringent punishments hold the key if India wants to be safe from terrorists
Aditya Vikram Chau..
I have something to say - post 26/11 terror attack and blame game , what has changed? The CM is in the Union Cabinet, the DCM is back as Home Minister, even Shivraj Patil is back! And the bitter truth is, there is no guarantee that 26 / 11 will not happen again - after a statemnt released by the the PM that there are daily intelligence inputs that a sequel is being planned across the border. Well would you still ask the same question?
