Perfect food and wine combination?
Spicy cuisines such as Chinese, Mexican, sausages, fruit salad.. they all goes well with white wine while red wine goes well with Beef, lamb, pork, duck, pizza, pasta, turkey and it tastes yumm..But i want to know which wine will go best with the typicsl indian food? i mean the rich creamy mughlai or for taht matter tikkas and kababs. Can anyone pls suggest?
By way of white wines - off dry aromatics like pinot gris, riesling, etc will go well with Indian cuisine. Creamy dishes can be enjoyed with wines with higher aicd levels like Chenin Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc. Avoid oaky, buttery chardonnays.
RED WINES - low or no tannins wines like Grenache, Pinot Noir or Cotes du Rhone.
Cheers!
White wine with white bite and Red wine with red bite is an old saying but oft forgotten. One can simply follow this. However, it applies to western delicacies. When it comes to rich, creamy, spicy country kababs etc., it is the RED. No questions. It is singularly the best match, you will love.
Consider how the food is prepared. flavored foods either poached or steamed should be paired with delicate wines. like Pinot Noir an earthy one goes well with soups..
According to the thumb rule- pair white wine with fisha and poultry and red with red meat. Simple and easy tip!!.. thats what i have been doing.
No doubts! but still i feel that nowadays there is no perfect combination for wine and food & no thumb rule as such. You will most probably hear and see people actually trying food and wine combinations that are quite unusual.
Yeah even i want to know what will go best with indian since some friends suggest sparkling wines ?
for tikkas and kebabs basically barbeques, yur wines need to be both fruity and rich, like Zinfandel or Rose or you can also try Sauvignon Blancs but that is for seafood grilled fish, pan fried prawns ...
You can also try having red wines, fruit ones.. they goes well with rich spicy food.
