"Gurur Brahma, Gurur Vishnu, Gurur Devo Maheshwara, Guru Sakshat Parabrahmah Tasmai Shree Guru Veh Namah"
Who am I ?
Life generally brings one to this question at one point in time or another. For some it is a process of many changes, for others, it is magnitude 7 or above Richter scale tremors in the form of loss of near and dear ones or property or fame. Sometimes events which appear beyond control and many more possible complex personal relationship issues and THE Question presents itself ... Who am "I"? A mixed set of image projections based on images stored by the brain are then cleverly put forth by the Mind. I am this (Allow your brain to use all the nice adjectives you learnt in school or perhaps MBA class)... I am that... (Allow here to let your mind use all those adjectives that people you know have used and you experienced anger or sadness)... and comes a voice from within "Nah doesn’t sound true" "I am not that" and the search goes on...
(The stages/experiences could be mixed up (read different) for every individual so please ask your mind to stop making conclusions just as yet!)
Other questions which usually rhyme well are ...What am I doing here? Or Is this What I am here for? Or Did I do all what I did for this? Or God! Do you really exist? Why is it so difficult to face myself? Why am I in pain? and so on...
.... until a day arrives... after a lot of alcohol has been diluted in blood or rivers of tears have been washed up in the washing machine outlet or many sleepless nights have been spend scrolling through the world-wide-web or pushing on the remote buttons without an aim..... And one finds himself in front of a mirror unknowingly or sometimes even with realization of seeing!
It is kind of funny but …imagine just for a bit … standing in front of a mirror … one asking ones image ( Location here does not matter could be in your own house, the toilet, the shower, a bar, a lake anywhere where one can see his/her own reflection)…Who am I?
The first impression is the face … and the eyes wander… the cheeks, the nose.., the ears… the hair has over grown..Ok.. Hmm time for a hair cut.. Nah some gel would do …the skin is too dry… time for the parlour… but damm only if I were not so busy …blah blah blah blah and a voice wakes you up… Who am I? (The Mind is very clever indeed!)
… and what does one see … an image ! … We learnt in school … light reflects against an object in this case our body and the reflection in the from of an image goes through our eyes as an inverted image behind the eye ball… further as an electrical signal to some part of the brain where the image is reverted back and understood.
All known problems and issues start @ understood.
Let’s understand how! So for all the times that one has seen himself or interacted with his own “mind” an image was formed and a big library of possibly millions of images that one made for himself formed the “me”.Commonly known adjectives like kind, humble, nice, good looking, handsome, pretty, smart etc etc are then attached after Me, Me is “add adjective” based on the minds play (play = importance mind likes to associate with “me”).
Voila ! Sounds logical…This is me!
But wait a second … if this were true … one would not be here at this stage in life.. in this moment thinking about this question aka Who am I?… something is missing … there is another side to the coin !
The other side is every time one interacts with a second person a similar set of images and millions of them form yet another library of “you” and guess what?.... a completely distinct one.
Get the drift? The fact of life is there are as many “you’s” in and around you as many people have ever interacted and/or even thought about you and each one of this (library is called you) is “you” !
So it is……….. There exist so many images of “me” or “I” or “you” … Who am I (really)?
