Pooja was born in kolkata where she stayed only for 20 days after her birth. 

Her father was against a second girl child in the family, so,Pooja’s mother, Neera Chopra had to walk out of her marital home with her two daughters to give them a chance at a better life.

The three women-family – Neera, Pooja and her older sister, Shubhra, then settled in Pune after a short stint in Mumbai. 

This is where Pooja attended Mount Carmel School, being tom boy, and naughtiest kid in class, ‘studiously avoiding sports’ and yet winning everything from elocution to singing to dramatics competitions and scooping best Allround Student trophies.

She began to win local pageants – Miss Residency, Miss Pune, Miss Personality, etc and began to attract modelling offers at local shows.

She completed her BCom from the Ness Wadia college in Pune.
