Shriya's father who was in army could not be present at her birth, but came rushing back as soon as he heard.

Her mother, Nirupama Kishore, is a classically-trained Kathak dancer.

Her younger brother, Divij, 20, studies law in Hyderabad, and made the trip down to Mumbai to watch her steal the title, along with friends.

A typical army brat, Shriya moved nine schools through the course of her education. She completed her tenth from Lovedale, Ooty, and her XIIth from Army Public School, Pune.

She did her graduation in hotel management from the Welcomgroup Institute in Manipal.

She is a member of Round Square International, which is a student body of the UNO.
