Sach Ka Samna
Sach Ka Samna In west, people can't differentiate between Indians, Pakistanis, Bangladeshis or Talibans. Most of them are ignorant and dont follow asian media and culture as closely as we do for the West. Many dont even know if Texas is in mexico or canada. It'll be unfair promoting such identity of asians in west. Shahrukh should just get on with it for now...

And i have already given links to what media is saying about all this cry baby drama....

He made a nice plot but got himself in a trap....now you all would have clearly seen a drastic change in how media has stopped promoting him, becoz they are scared of facing the anger from common public now...They have realized that their main viewer is not the college going student or teenage gals, but intellectuals, who can read the body language and mannerismz of a person and can judge him easily.

Gourav Mahajan
Gourav Mahajan @Cool Indian, Buddy, you really don't seem to get this, do you?

SRK is an actor, and that says it all..a very pretentious actor indeed.

First he called up Indian Consulate, just because his so called "2 Hours" were being wasted, as per the reports of US security on newwark airport the exact time was 66 mins....anyways

But when he came back to India, he wasted more then 2 hours to give lengthy sugar coated and saintly interviews to media.....wasn't he wasting his time there?

He fell in a big trap by making this an issue, he visited US several times and he must have been frisked everytime he visited US....why didn't he cried that time? Makes sense?

When US govt. gave the solid and valid reason of his checking and questioning, he took a U turn in his statements...I am sure that you must have read his statements in US (don't say they were same).

He is a good entertainer, a good businessman, and a good politician too. He knows how to manipulate things around him, because we have innocent and star struck kids like you in our country who see his fake side and get mesmerized, but ignore his real side.

He made fun of himself and his nation...and that's what matters

I understand your mental level, and your crazy obsession for your hypocrite and fake star...

and stop talking about national affairs when you don't know anything about your country....bloody you r not a patriotic indian, you r just a crazy star's crazy fan...good for nothing losers

Hrithik Roshan went for that occasion finally, on the request of that association, that too when his father was attacked and was hospitalized, his first movie became a superhit then, when srk rejected the offer, hrithik accepted that.

I against every Indian who is portraying himself as a hypocrite and loser infront of world, who is degrading the image of our nation...

He started crying becoz he knew that his link ups with mafia are going to be revealed, go and read the newspapers idiot kid, stop reading mayapuri and all bullcrap magazinez...in order to divert the minds of media and public he created this chaos..

Go and read his first statements and then watch his press conference....

That gay, was crying becoz his 2 hours were wasted on the airport, what the hell was he doing when he was wasting more then 2 hours in giving that press conference.

Get a life you kids, and stop joining these kind of communities, people with brains come here, not some movie freaks

Gourav Mahajan
Gourav Mahajan To all the ignorant and illiterate fans of srk, who are supporting his "cry baby" act of disrespecting our nation....Have a look at this important information

What happens at a US port of entry (POE)

Inspection at a US Port of Entry: What to expect/What do CBP officials do?

* Upon arrival at the POE you must present your passport and other required documents. CBP officers will review these to determine whether to allow you to enter the US.

* Your first encounter with CBP officers will be at a primary inspection station where they ask foreign nationals questions to determine their identity and nationality.

* If they decide to admit you the CBP officer will also determine how long you will be allowed to stay in the US, and in what status you will be admitted.

* CBP officers review passports, visas, and other supporting documents of each and every foreign national arriving at a US POE. The CBP officers also compare fingerprint records and name check databases for recent derogatory information, ask questions about the foreign nationals general qualifications for the visas they have, review the Form I-94 Arrival and Departure Record (or, for Visa Waiver travelers, Form I-94W).

What Kind of questions do the CBP officers ask?

CBP officers at US POEs will ask you questions to determine the true intent of your trip to the US. Inspections Officers are trained, and have the experience to back up their training, to identify if a foreign national has a pre-conceived intent behind their trip to the US, i.e., they are looking to see if you are actually coming to go to school or for a job interview when you say you are coming to visit Disneyland. If an officer is not convinced with your initial statements, they may ask for additional supporting documentation be allowing you to enter the US.

CBP officials – their power and authority – what they can do?

CBP officers have complete power and authority at the POE. It is up to their discretion to conclude whether or not a foreign national is eligible to enter the US. It is only after a CBP officer stamps and dates the I-94 form, places an admission stamp in the foreign national's passport, and the foreign national passes through the inspection station that the foreign national is admitted to the United States.

Secondary Inspection – what leads you to a secondary inspection?

If the first CBP officer that a foreign national meets feels that the inspection requires additional time for review to determine a foreign national's eligibility, the officer may refer the foreign national for a “secondary inspection.” This secondary inspection is a much more comprehensive review, and can take several hours to complete. Generally a foreign national referred for secondary inspection is not considered to be “admitted” to the United States.

What generally happens in a secondary inspection?

In secondary inspection, CBP officers will ask a foreign national more detailed questions about their travel plans for the US. Foreign nationals may even be asked to produce additional identification and other documentation in order to determine their actual identity and purpose of their visit to the United States. The foreign national and their belongings may also be searched, and the foreign national may be required to give a full set of fingerprints.

Any person, foreign national or person with a claim to US citizenship and presenting a US passport, may be sent to secondary inspection if the CBP officer has reservations about admitting him to the United States. A person may also be sent to secondary inspection if there is a possibility the person is smuggling contraband or violating any other customs or immigration regulations, or federal law in general.

Gourav Mahajan
Gourav Mahajan Let us ask one crucial question to SRK.

Whether he allows all and sundry to enter Mannat(his residence, i suppose), without proper identification and checking?

If YES then he is justified in making hue and cry about treatment given to him by US officials...
on Fri, 21 Aug, 2009
Manish Purohit Looks like you guys were sworn SRK haters even before this incident.

They first said it was publicity then it was arrogance being above the law etc. and now this new thing cash dealings.

- Interestingly, no other newspaper or international media reported the same story about promoter links etc.

- the same promoter has been hosting all Bollywood stars, while strange thing is the promoter himself has not been questioned neither other Bollywood stars. US said this was just usual checks and nothing special.

I am not really a big fan of his movies but here he is being portrayed in negative light as if he invited the questioning himself while in the past they did not even spare George Fernandes, Azim Premji, Abdul Kalam and South star Kamal Haasan.

Rock Quartz
Rock Quartz I will present a new viewpoint, not in favor of SRK, but our fellow Muslims: A name of Muslim is indeed likely to trigger undue caution from the US security. This just didn’t happen because of fun, but a larger equation of Muslim world in general with the US, as we all are well aware of it. So lets face it, a Muslim name is as likely to receive extra check up, quite similar to as US security would check extra for Mexicans in the southern States in the USA, but are they doing that right? That is the question!

Lets start asking that question from our Indian policemen first? How much of respect do our Indian policemen give to people they suspect? Has anybody dealt with that? Their behavior, language and or physical beating are similar to how people use to treat slaves during those days. Is that what we should expect for human beings? Now let’s jump and talk about the US security people. Don’t you think, however, nice they want to be towards tourists, their angst towards some Muslims would surface here and there? Com on? After all, man is that animal, who is trying to be civilized. So things happen, unfortunately!

But, SRK is a different story all together. A story that would show he is guilty of crime towards all our fellow Muslims. A crime, that may incite the existing threat to our global peace and security. Generally, all visitors to the US have to wait in a line/queue for up to 2-3 hrs. Those hours sound like days and months after travelling in air sometimes for 24 hrs without sleeping, so people are quite restless in that line/queue. Do you think a person with temperament like that of SRK, would just stand straight in that line, like a disciplined kid and all that in front of his fellow Indians who are also in the line? No, he will not. Now my inquiry is about if he showed his natural tantrums just because is ‘hila hua’ or he had an intent. Intent to see or show, that people with Muslim names may indeed require extra check up. Or may be that was just an excuse to get out of that line and rather sit in room? At what point he thought he was being treated like a general Muslim? or he had stage that event like an activist to show it to rest of the world. In either of cases he indeed broke the news to the world that how horrible US security is towards Muslims. What reaction would it bring it to the Muslim World? Do you think this is an act to bring awareness? Or create/bring animosity between our fellow Muslims and the ‘USA’? I think Kiran Chawla’s topic itself is an answer enough to prove how much of vengeance it has created not only among all Muslims but us as Indians in general. This act of SRK knowing or unknowingly ( I let that decision on him and his followers) has indeed fueled animosity to add to ongoing antagonism towards the USA. An antagonism, that will bring hatred and evoke retaliation against USA and their interests. This act is similar in forms as that of fanatic Muslims such as Osama, who cant see harmony and peace with other religions. If that’s what SRK wanted, he has done his job well. Else, he should apologize to our fellow Muslims and rest of the Indians to have knowingly or unknowingly instigated vengeance and disharmony. And this Kiran Chawla should go see Indian policemen and or serve/help 5 impoverished Indian kids as atonement for bringing shame to our fellow Indians.

Ideally, in case of our expecting a normal treatment for our fellow Muslims in the USA should be carried out by peace. For example, a rally similar to what Indian Sikhs did after 9/11. Bringing awareness is the only shield we could provide to guard our interests and peace in the world. That’s why I took out my hour worth of time to write this.

Shahrukh is not the first one everyone knows the history.

Or we can also take this as they are more concerned about there country and we are not. That we allow people to pass security checks easily because they are from a developed country.

Eduardo Patricia Harvinder Singh, Delhi: The Abdul Kalam & Shahrukh Khan is different case. Abdul Kalm was president & has contribution to the country as a scientist but what is Shahrukh Khan's contribution to the country. Abdul Kalam has protocol but Shahrukh khan is a common citizen.

The secondary check by American security personal was a procedure of that country where all citizens have equal rights moreover security check is not insult of a person but we should praise their efforts to save their country from terrorist attacks. This is the reason that there is no any terrorist attack after 9/11.

I used to go America & also secondary security checked thrice. I found nothing wrong in it. They simply asked a few question but Shahrukh Khan felt insulted but this procedure is good for their security & should going & should check all persons whether Shahrukh.

Madhab Debbarma
Madhab Debbarma Those who are talking of treating the Americans the same way that Shah Rukh Khan was treated at the Newark International Airport, are nothing but a bunch of losers whose US Visa applications have been recently rejected. These people should note that not every Indian or Muslim is being subjected to what SRK was , at the US Immigration. US Immigration can randomly detain and interrogate anybody who they feel are threat to the country. US is a country and it has full rights to do that to anyone it deems necessary. And thats why the country is safe from terrorists today although it is fighting multiple wars simultaneously. As for India doing the same kind of security checks, its free to do that. But simply doing this kind of checks to Americans will be nothing but childish act and full of emotional reactions. And therefore India will be more of laughing stock to the entire world. Already with this episode, people all over the world know now that in India, people like SRK, politicians, and even relatives of Politicians like Robert Vadera are not required to go through security checks at airport. Please don't try to publicise anymore this stupid rules of India to the world by enforcing some emotionally charged checks to Americans only.

Rrpt Eww Doll, u almost brought me to tears with that. Looks like you are living in a bubble :D Sorry to pop ur bubble world dude, but u gotta wake up and smell the coffee. If you think SRk is an innocent victim of media frenzy and that this incident got undue attention ONLY because of the media, u are mistaken. This would never have been blown out of proportion if he didnt want it to. I am not saying that he is a bad person. He gives to charity and all that, but that is beside the point. Here he acted stupid, he brought unwarranted attention to himself. And by the way, if Aishwarya Rai or whoever were in the same situation, my response would still be the same. Tired of celebrities thinking they own the world and deserve preferential treatment where ever they go.

This money and status are the main culprit, We have to show them their real face and let us tell them that they are the common man just like those who were killed in mumbai attacks.

Gourav Mahajan
Gourav Mahajan Just notice the way he has changed all his statements in his interview....

This man thinks that he can play with our minds and can get away with that easily...

We have wasted our money on this cheapo, now we are also wasting our time and minds on him..

I stand by USA, because they have lost 7000 countrymen in 9/11 attack, they still feel that pain and want to make sure that same thing doesn't happen again....

We cant compare them with our country where we light candles infront of India Gate and then after 2 months we forget everything and very next year one more attack awaits us...WE ARE GETTING USED TO ALL THIS.

US has rejected to be used to all this.....SECURITY OF ANY NATION IS ABOVE ALL......Respectable Abdul Kalam Azad respected their emotions and i respect him for that...but srk has been proven an ugly stain on the face of our country.....People in US must be laughing at us for all this drama

Gourav Mahajan
Gourav Mahajan Does SRK have the guts to take a pledge of not visiting US again?? (Ohh i forgot he changed his statement yesterday......good for Indian ICON)

I think he took a pledge of not attending any matches arranged by BCCI, when BCCI warned him for using matches for the promotion of his movies, when he attended a match with deepika and his son wearing a t-shirt with a logo of his cheap movie om shanti om...

he started crying there to gain same old cheap sympathy from his fans, and took a pledge of not attending any BCCI match...and after some days he owned an IPL team...lolz

We have seen his reality several times and this time again he has shown his real face to us...He tries to be a saint while giving interviews to media and fans, but world knows what kind of person he is.
on Thu, 20 Aug, 2009
Gourav Mahajan
Gourav Mahajan I am sure that this wasn't the first time that SRK has visited USA....He must have visited USA after every 2-3 months ever since he came in bollywood...

And I am sure that he must have been frisked everytime he checked out from airport, because US police does that with everybody.....Then why this chaos this time only?

Answer is simple.....Upcoming Release of his movie MNIK....but a very cheap tactic I must say.

These kind of people are disgrace for our country who can do anything for their own benefits. Despite of his arrogance, fake attitude and insulting behavior i found him more intelligent then other stars.

But this act has taken away that tag from him now...this act was a display of sheer childishness...may be he has taken Indians forgranted now and thinks that Indians are his stupid blind followers.

he has gotten away with his hypocrite and fake acts to gain sympathy several times before (remember BCCI act), but this time I am sure that he has fallen into a big trap and he deserves this.

I think he is the one who was accusing Emraan Hashmi for creating religious chaos in the country.

I challenge SRK to take a pledge of not going to US again, as he did in the case of BCCI, we all remember what did he do after that.

enough of his tantrums, he is not doing any development in our country, so media should get away from this cheapo

Gopaul Sookram
Gopaul Sookram The United States or any of it's Elected Officials does not owe SRK an apology. Not now or in the future. He may be King Khan for all the people in India, but when he is on US soil, he is just an ordinary citizen from India.

Visiting the US is a privilege, not a right. If you can understand that, then you will be able to better understand why we have all these Rules, Regulations and Policy for people to follow upon entering the US. I think most of the people who support SRK and claims that this is Racial Profiling, they do not have a clue of what is Racial Profiling. They should use their little pea brian and break out a Dictionary and look up the meaning. Secondly, there are many better actors than SRK in India. So how did he become a Bollywood Icon? He is an over-rated actor. Some people just dont get it. The US dont need SRK, it's the other way around. He needs the US. So whats up with that?
on Thu, 20 Aug, 2009
India First what do you think about rakhi sawant?
on Fri, 21 Aug, 2009
Rrpt Eww Danny L, I cant even wonder where to start on you. I have a couple of words from 'Cool Indian's vocabulary that I would like to use, but I wont. Wake up dude, 'Indian Icon' it seems, PATHETIC!!!!! SHAME ON YOU!! Go get a life.
on Thu, 20 Aug, 2009
Danny L Hi! Sir. Just one thing you need to remember there is a huge difference between you and SRK.

What he has achived in comparison you are not even his lace of his shoe. Before commenting on him being over rated you are so under rated I don't think any one even knows who is Gopaul Sookram Shame on U, Talk about our Indian Icon with respect.
on Thu, 20 Aug, 2009
Gopaul Sookram
Gopaul Sookram Seems to me that too many Indian people are giving great importance to Sharuk Khan and his sad story about being delayed at the airport security check point. Indian leaving India enroute to the US must know before they go. Security is a major concern for all the people of the US and also for those visiting the US. If you cannot follow the rules and regulations that are implemented at all Security Checkpoints that are monitored by Security Officials in various capacity. Then you can do yourself and other concerned indioviduals a big favor. Just stay in India for the rest of your natural born life. Shah Ruk Khan is a natural born looser just like his Team. The Calcutta Knight Riders. Loosing is a lifestyle for you and your team. Suck it up and move on. US is not for you SRK. All you want from the US is our Dollars. Are you not satisfied with your Indian Rupees. Get a real life SRK. The US should take your Visa and give it to someone who will use it for something very good. Not just to satisfy your greed. You got that?
on Thu, 20 Aug, 2009
Rrpt Eww Danny boy, we meet again and this time you prove urself and your culture. I find it beneath myself to even comment on your post. Go learn English properly first and then make references to people's mothers. You are such a loser and the sad part is, you dont even know it. All I can do is shake my head in pity. You are an epitome of Indian political leadership.
on Thu, 20 Aug, 2009

Rragjav Achar
Rragjav Achar Hello All, For those irked by SRK's behaviour... Let us take some serious steps on this and do some meaningful stuff. I know most of us dont accept his stuff but definitely sure that this will have some effect on SRK. SRK is making all this fuss is because of us, thinkin that he had plenty of followers who does not bother whether he is right or wrong, know only just to support him. By taking this we can make him realize that we (may be a small group of people) have turned against him. The idea is ...DONT WATCH HIS FORTH COMING MOVIE - KHAN. By doing so it will definitely send an alert to him saying today a very small group of people has stopped seeing his movie and would increase in future. Let us put hands together to do this.. plz suggest...
on Wed, 19 Aug, 2009
Rragjav Achar He may have enough money, but still he want to be center of attraction so only. Why did he do pepsi add when the govt of india was planning to impose ban on it? He stood next to it to push it up... do you have any reason danny?
on Thu, 20 Aug, 2009
Danny L Actually he does not need such people like u watching his movie and belive me it would not even effect his income, u all need to clean your system up. SRK is much bigger then just creating a contraversy without actual details. He sits next to head of countries so do understand he does not need any publicity. You all should understand there is no smoke without fire.

This is not the first time, that America are harrassing Indians, earlier they have harras our EX-PRESIDENT, Mr Abdul Kalam also.

India First i believe in true securlarism, not the pseudo secularism of india where people like afzal guru will perhaps never be hanged because he is a muslim !! or when our PM says muslims have first right to resources...so does it mean i am second in queue?

it is pseudo secularists like you who always want to be politically correct and want to be all inclusive...

but there is a large section of the society that wants to operate exclusively...

do you ever tell them why they think and act this way?

i trash terrorism (of any kind) everytime i find opportunity..and you never trash them because of your secularist view...

you and likes of you are cowards...thats why terrorists enjoy india as a country..they strike at will...and you are mere spectator...i hope america never becomes like india and SRK be stopped 1000 times if needed...if it thats a means to safety so be it...

you are one fucking pseudo secularist with a short term memory because you forget those who have died at their hands..those terrorists will keep killing people around you and you will curse those who raise voices against them...because you do not have balls to speak against them...

if you want peace, go ask them, not me...have balls?

Dilip Lokre Dilip Kumar - I don't understand why Indian's are targeting American's for a tit-for-tat attitude where as they totally failed to do the same for 26/11 incidence. Come on guys, the 26/11 was a much serious matter. People lost their lives and families got shattered, whereas in SRK incidence no damage was done except the big ego!

Kamal Goyal
Kamal Goyal SRK is wasting time and is trying to get attention. Media should stop giving him importance. He is a well known star, but he always try to act like he is above the law. The people, media should stop over reacting on this issue. As SRK said he would like not to visit US, I am sure no one will beg him to come and visit US if he choose to. Earlier also on National TV when asked about vegeterian food he said he don' t like Bhindi or Gobhi as it tastes like eating Ghaas- Phoos. Now he is talking about Amar Singh. All this is publicity stunt and if he think he don't need any publicity, he should know that no one was aware of what happened to Abdul Kalam Ji at Delhi Airport in April until July, because he did not want to make it a big deal. He should learn a lesson and stop talking about the US incident at all.
on Wed, 19 Aug, 2009
Bosley Baasha
Bosley Baasha SRK is very immature here and is playing with the media on a publicity stunt. Not only was this fool too arrogant to think that he deserved unique treatment, the Indian ministers too joined in this charade. Dont they have other jobs to do? Will they get down to helping all the Indians facing such treatment anywhere in the world. What about the Indians facing such issues INSIDE India (Indian citizens waiting LONG HOURS in front of Indian government offices to get day to day jobs done). What do these politicians do to help them. What did the Indian embassy do to help the working Indians in the country. I am sure there are lot of problems (even though it may be trivial) to be solved for hardworking Indian citizens.

I did not expect a couple of learned ministers whom I place in high regard to make a fool of themselves in front of the world. I am sure the US Immigration personnel will be laughing loud and making fun of these ministers. Good joke at these politician's expense. Shame on them.

People in the US can do something about it and stop watching this idiot's movies in the US or inviting him anymore to this country. Make him less popular and restrict his drama to just within India, where he is a demigod. !#$@. Lets make this movie a big flop and prove that such cheap stunts dont always pay. SRK can repair this to a very small extent by apologising to the concerned authorities and to the media whom he is using.

Sanjeev Kumar
Sanjeev Kumar I think we should look at the bigger picture. There are couple of issues involved here. First, India should step up its own security at the airports and all other ports of entry into the country just like Europe and North America and treat all foreigners irrespective of their celebrity status like the way indians are treated abroad. Second ,India should learn to look after the rights of its citizen when they are abroad and the way to do it is enhance the support provided by the Indian missions and make it easily accessible for all citizens.

Pankaj Kumar Ukey
Pankaj Kumar Ukey One shouldn't take the detention of SRK as a spoiled intention of Americans.. If we assume the news I read about this episode is correct then the american did the right thing. I heard that in airport SRK identified himself as a south asian and when they asked him about the south asian identity, he said south asian includes all indian, pakistani, afgan, middle east people... well the americans already feel suspicious about afgan or pakistani ..it was inevitable to avoid detention after wht SRK said .. instead of saying south asian ,if he introduced himself as a Indian, i don't think tht would make any big problem for him.. .. nyway Aftermath of this incident we should also stringent our security and don't give the special privilege to VIP people whether they are indian or hold any other national identity ..we should check all of them. It is a fact that after 9/11 America tighten up the security and due to that they didn't suffer another attack. We should do the same...... It's mandatory to avoid unwanted terrorist attack.

Of Course my experience of army is as a very patriotic and disciplined force maybe different from yours. I will not say how or why. You will run crying mommeeeeee to the TOI!! We fought with what we had and well without doing many things. If you see bad things it is because your mind maybe bad? We see positive things and slow setting right of wrongs. No self flaggalation not connected to the present issue needed.

Prajin Ravindran
Prajin Ravindran From my point of view and understanding it is simple: The US officials were bound to do their duty irrespective of who SRK was. If we Indians try to abuse or do the same thing to Americans who are coming to India there is no difference between them and us. Think differently people on India.
on Wed, 19 Aug, 2009
Shankara Menon I do not think SRK should be treated differently. That is so. But that does not give a right to Ameri Khans to behave as they does. There must be set norms and innocent travellers should not be harassed on any front. Neither in india nor in the US. But that does not mean that we be meek. Remember what happened in Brazil. They reacted and it resulted in changes.

I am more concerned about what happened to Dr. Kalam and for that India should take action.

India First I was wondering why SRK says it took 2 hours while immigration says 66 minutes. I finally found the answer. Moment pilot said they were landing at newark, SRKs clock started ticking.

Next time, he should ask for special permission to be dropped from the plane over hudson. Without parachute !!

S Datta
S Datta It is really funny that people in India should make such a big deal about SRK getting questioned. I travel in US on weekly basis from the same airport and I get pulled out for random checking almost every week. I do not have khan in my name nor I am a muslim. I don't mind getting checked. This just shows that they want to be safe than sorry. US was not attacked by terrorists after 09/11 via land or via sea.

Gopal V
Gopal V SRK 's case has been hyped up for strange reasons. Let's respect the fact that they are extremely cautious post 9/11 and to our amazement no untoward events have happened on the US soil post 9/11. That's US for all of us to see. Coming to the question of should we do the same with Americans visiting India - Not americans, do the check for everybody if you want the Indian soil to be safe and secure. One should not forget that Indians need US the most rather than US citizens needing India. They come to India for tourism, business promotion, IT and BPO businesses.

If our goverment feel these people are so important, they should communicate to those contry these guys are travelling well in advance.

Partho Datta
Partho Datta Ok, Now I have a different point of view. I was born and raised in India, but I have been living in Los Angeles for 15 years. The problem is, in India film stars are treated as God. Even the press splash is all over with head lines giving it utmost importance. Tell me, just because he is Shah Rukh Khan, the media and Indian public go nuts about his being questioned for two hours. I am a die hard Shah Rukh Khan fan but lets all face the reality. If an American actor is questioned in India for two hours, no one would give a damn..... Can you imagine American Media splashing it across the nation in headline news..... like Angelina Jolie questioned at Indian airport for two hours....it is beyond imagination.

I love my country so much, but with a vast population and the media making Shah Rukh Khan questioning such a big news and dwell on it for days....... our thought process needs to be augmented. I hope we all think in a constructive manner and do something collectively for constructive purpose.

By the way, Shah Rukh .....if you reading this I am a big fan of yours, you are so lucky that you got away within two hours..... they detained me for 5 hours at the Miami airport for absolutely no reason and I am not a Muslim. I envy you, your detention is splashed in headlines all over India..... One thing.... there is no doubt that you have achieved the status of God and the media go nuts about you. I am not being sarcastic, but you do control India, and no way you are a normal person in India.

About our ex president, its absolutely the fault of the Indian government. How come our country does not have something like Secret Service in America. If we had, the agents would arrive well in advance and swamp the entire airport and get everyone on high alert and get the whole continental staff geared up to greet the president and give him the respect he deserves. The whole fault is of the Indian Government that they do not do the needful and when something happens, and blame it on Continental and America
Remind you, this all happened in India, so just imagine what kind of cover he had.

Ash Ji
Ash Ji SRK was just questioned - not detained. Even if he was detained, what's the big deal? Every country has a right to protect itself and if Indian security agencies find any American (or any foreigner for that matter) suspicious, they should detain him/her as well (but non unnecessarily though).

There are hundreds of thousands of Indians fly back and forth between the two countries and I know that only a few are questioned or detained for further inquiry .

Mr. Khan himself has must've traveled dozens of time to USA before - what's the big deal if he got stopped once.
on Wed, 19 Aug, 2009
Satyajit Tripathi
Satyajit Tripathi I would prefer to hear a comment or reaction from the people who were detained like SRK or Mr. Prez. What they think of it and Why it happened and The Way it happened, before I draw any conclusions.

I trust there should not be any compromise whenever it comes to a country's security concerns. A thorough verification without any damn influence is a must and I would like to believe, that is what was done at USA port without a prejudice.

Whether India should do the same with Americans or Indians or of any other origin? Answer should be YES!

Navin D
Navin D This is so much typical of Indians. The crab mentality. When anything happens to an Indian, the first thing we do is blame the Indian itself. Why do we Indians regard ourselves so lowly compared to an American or an Australian. Do we still have this being coloured, inferiority complex.

Whereas in developed countries anything that happens to a white is so strongly opposed. I think it is time for Indians to think of Indians in unity. Rather than blaming the Indian for every problem that arises. The reason being that such a problem could and will affect you at some point in your life. In this case being disrespected at the airport security or in another case being attacked by a white man in Australa.
on Wed, 19 Aug, 2009
Navin D Bhasker, Going by your previous comments it looks like you are a person living in America, oblivious of Indian ethos. If you think America is so righteous even after all the atrocities committed by it to other countries than you can stick your smelly a#@e inside of US and never come out of that place. Where was American equality when they went to Iraq looking for oil in the name of freedom to Iraqis, or for that matter bullying even India for NPT when they have loaded their country with nuclear weapons, wars with USSR, vietnam, Iran, and now China . Dont give your corrupt equality lessons to anyone cuz they stink of a skunk. BTW my comment was about the Indian crab mentality not the slave mentality. I think someone really needs to grow up here.
on Wed, 19 Aug, 2009
Bhasker Singh Slave mentality is not about praising others, its about yearning to enslave others once one become powerful. People with slave mentality have no concept of equality .... they either #$%@ others or gets #$%@ed by others ........ Noone has supported white man attacking indians in Australia .... what do we do now blame all white people ? what abt british girl raped in India ......... Will we feel ok if Brits blamed all indians for that. Grow up dude ... If we want to clean the world ..... it has to start from your, my and our house.

Look it is simple there was doubt and they asked SRK to wait in a detention room. He might have been 10th or what ever person in the list of the people there. So they would have come in order. Just because he is SRK his number does not go from 10th to 1st... it does not work that way.

Islam Khan Anybody entering a foreign country is subject to such formalities. In his case it may be a little bit longer which is purely is due to safety conscious officer on duty. SRK must not even discuss this issue at all if he feels he was insulted beacuse it indicates as if he is trying to show his pompous. I do not think if there is any way a foreigner can escape being questioned other than getting a special tag (if allowed by USA) or traveling by his own charter plane. I am a muslim and have Khan name and I never complained of such incidences. The more you talk or give explanation, the more rediciulus it is becomming. The media should also forget this issue completely for the sake of SRK image
on Wed, 19 Aug, 2009

Islam Khan It is highly immature to even talk on such trivial issue.SRK is not above the law in USA same as in India no body should be above the law. You have full right to question a foreigner if required. If SRK feels being treated unduly he should either stop going there or get a special visa and a charter plane to travel to USA, then probably he can escape custom check. Otheriws if you traveling with common man, he should be ready to similar treatment.

India First I wrote this post to someone and i am reiterating it here. Here is what typically happens at the airport during secondary checks. when you are sent to a room, you are in a queue. If many people came into that room before SRK, it will obviously take time. And this queue can vary from 1 person to 100 people depending on how many flights arrive at the same time. My personal experience has varied from 5 minutes to 2 hours when I used my advanced parole to enter the country while my green card processing was underway.

Ofcouse, SRK was expecting that he would be put right in front of the queue as if it was india.

When I go to INdia I'm constantly stopped by those cigratte puffing, tambaku eating immigration offeres and harassed for 2 hours...That doesnt stop me from going back to the nation I love. Coming to the topic, USA has full rights to detain anyone whom they find suspicious. Please remember, it is their country, their "well formulated" rules , so if anyone has issues, stay home else travel in your own country.

By the way what about a recent incidence in Bihar where students torched up the Air conditioned bogies when they were forcibly trying to sit without a valid ticket.I wonder whether they are people or animals. Here in USA even a dogs obeys all the rules.

So Mr/Miss/Mrs Chawla, please think before you leap.

Sunila Ayala
Sunila Ayala For security of a country and its people, I don't think going that extra mile and double checking anybody is wrong. Had SRK been a gentleman enough, he wouldn't have raised this issue in the first place. And this when it happened in USA where I would say except for the Asian/South Asian diaspora and few of their friends wouldn't even care for who he is. Look at what happened with Dr.A.P.J Abdul Kalam at Delhi airport? Now even if it was continental airlines but the staff employed is still Indian(nobody brings staff from their country for on-ground operations), and if they had the audacity to frisk Ex-prez of India on Indian soil, who the hell SRK thinks he is???? Dr.Kalam had the dignity to not make an issue of it, but petty politics eventually got over it, though it happened months after the incident occured. For that matter, SRK's bodyguard never lets anyone even come closer to him or talk to him unless when media is around(then he is all goody goody guy), then why the hell is SRK creating such a ruckus over security procedures of the other country? I go to USA every year and I don't complain. Its not about any religion, its just that USA cares for the safety of its citizens and property, unlike India where we commoners are like ants and the damn so-called VVIPs/VIPs think they are superior to us(filmstars/cricketers etc etc etc). I have seen at airports in India where how all these S*** people are taken ahead of the others and made to clear security check. And here we stand in lines for hours together risking to miss our flight. This very culture has to change. So what happened to SRK should be a reality check for him and others of his clan that they are like one of us and that money can't buy you privilege all the time. I am happy it actually happened, but SRK is leaving no chance to use it for his own publicity. I say do frisk everyone in our country. Make our security tighter, it doesn't matter whether one is a commoner or a VIP, security should always be above all these. When it comes to security of the nation, its people, nobody is above law. If someone creates a scene then put it straight to them that its the procedure! This is the only way to handle security of our country!

To safe guard their country they need to check the list of names which reflects on their system whose names are under banned list. Its Khans bad luck if his name was reflected.

The same routine is carried out on all other visitors arriving into the USA. Why hasnt anyone taken that up so far ?

SRK is not special, he is also a common man like others. He does not carry a red passport.

World renowned person like Dr Abdul Kalam was checked in India by Continental Airlines . He was silent about the security measures and was infact happy to see the security check was done for every one to make it safe.

But we must first start with muslims. they terrorised india for 1,500 years, vandalised temples, desecrated idols, changed all holy palce names to bads, converted hoards of gullible hindus by force and greed, took away large chunk of land. So first punish these people. then, let us talk of tit-for-tat to USA. As long as pseudo secular enemies are ruling India , media will pamper minorities. Let SRK go to malaysia and gulf countries where millions of indians including muslims are denied basic civil liberties of even praying to a god of choice and preach them secualrism. then let him make abig noise in india. what a shame. media is one sided. it blows all small muslim problems to mountains and belittles all hindu problems as though they are nothing.

America's response is not based on prejudice, but security of the nation and the individuals who carry out these orders don't know who is SRK - who is SRK anyway - just a popular actor, is a national hero ? - what if this situation was faced by a common man, say some Salim Khan from Mumbra, would there then be such a issue and support for him?

I think the Yanks are proactive and doing what they can to insure security of their people - they have faced 9-11 if you remember - unlike the indian govt, which is always reactive.

What did our govt do to prevent the IA flight hijack - if such a protocol was in place would that have happened? Mumbai 26/11, what about that - was the cost guard napping - I mean people are taking boat rides for Pak not mud-island and in fact it was the same route used to smuggle drugs into India for years- to the loss of the industry, just that one less way to get drugs into the country... as Indians we always learn from sacrifices of the brave - look at our history - this time it was the top brass of mumbai police.

Instead of placing pressure of America, we need to learn form this example and place pressure on our internal security for similar levels of scrutiny - not ask for apologies from a nation who takes the responsibility of security seriously.

India First indians supporting srk has been blindfolded. Think for a moment that you see a movie star from thailand. To people in thailand, he might have a huge stature but same guy on the airport would be looked upon as another regular guy.

Same happens to american law enforcement. SRK is just like another person to them.

Grow up SRK or declare openly that you will never visit US again.

SRK had two choices in that given situation. ONe not to speak anything and ask for his Legal team or Lawyer and if that request is declined, he should stop answering any more questions and tell the Immigration that he will catch next flight to India. That would be enough for Immigration to know who is he and the buck stops there. If any top American leader or icons come to India, we will never ever do any such thing because we willingly ignore this incident or some TOP official will instruct to do so. The US PR will avoid such mishaps when needed in India.

Suresh Gore IT IS RESONSIBILITY OF SECIRITY PEOPLE TO CHECK EVERY ONE. WHO IS SHARUKH KHAN? HE IS GOD OR WHAT. CONSIDER ALSO HIM AS ORDINARY MAN AND TREAT HIM ALSO SAME WAY AS OTHER PEOPLE. for security of our country, treat every one for all country people the same way so that we can protect ourseleves. For god sake, do not give too much importance to the issues like thsi. Ther are lot of issues like draught, currept politicians, population groth, redction of farm land and others. I do not know why every one is making a big fuss of this matter. If I were in his place, I have two choices - a ) Not to answer any questions except through his own Lawyer if they permit. If they do not permit, just tell the US Immigration that he will catch next flight to India instead of facing barrage of questions and answers. That should have brought an end to this fiasco. Basically it appears some sort of provocation and exchange of statements might have taken place from both sides. I know for sure, India can not and will not do this any US top official because we are Indians and easily forget our humiliated treatment at that time or under pressure from TOP we ignore to do away such indecent treatment.

Romit S
Romit S There is no need to highlight this issue, as the concept of so called racial profiling, started soon after post 9-11. As a part of sprucing up its own security and tougher ways to screen passengers, particularly from a particular religion, came into force. They have their security procedures in place, but we don't have, we should be tougher with foreigners, as you never know, from where terrror guys can land in. It could be even from USA, or UK, Australia, so you have to screen each and every passenger, without looking at, whether he belongs to US or Ethiopia, or UK or Vietnam. Treat everyone equal , from security point of view.

Jahangir Khan
Jahangir Khan What's the problem with security checks ? No one is above security clearances ? Who is Shahrukh Khan ? Is he Mother Teresa or Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam ? What is his contribution to the nation? He is just an artist. They got used to luxuries in India and expect things to happen within few seconds all over the world.

Let us not target any nationality or community to have similar checks in India just to harass people. If India does this for internal security in screening anybody irrespective of their nationality, community, fame etc, it will be a welcome decision

Why is media blowing up the matter. There are hundreds of people who go thru the same in USA, why media not taking out this issues then? Please do not waste time on this stupid issue.

Ankur Singh Offcource not. if we are travel to other countries we must respect their rules. American has this strict checking process thats why they would be able to avoide another 9/11. They have also hold the legendry artist Bob Dylen. Why such propoganda just because Mr. Khan is a Actor. One should not forget that during the interrogation he first told that he is invited to an south asian function not the independence day function. Is he ashamed of being indian? Just for the sake of money he can travel anywhere or he can dance in any xyz wedding party. Cheep publicity

This is not the first time an Indian celebrity was the victim of racial profiling in US or elsewhere in the world. Here's a list of those who have gone through similar ordeal.

2002: Kamal Hassan was detained at the Toronto airport in Canada for his "Islamic" last name by airport officials.

2002: Megastar Aamir Khan was strip searched and interrogated at the Chicago airport.

2008: Film director Kabir Khan was also detained at least three times last year when he was shooting in the United States for his film New York.

2008: Actor Neil Nitin Mukesh was also questioned because the officials thought that he wasn't Indian.

2009: Southern superstar Mammooty was detained because his name on the passport was Muhammad Kutty Ismail.

Dulare Yadav Security

Recently when Shahrukh Khan was detained by American security then media make it a big issue. SRK is also a human being so all those laws which are applicable to common human being are should be applying on him also. SRK should appreciate American security who doing his job without fear of cost.

In our country also security should be tight. There same security law should be apply with celebrity also. Recently when old President Abdul Kamal checked by the airport security officer then also Media made it a big issue.

There are too many celebrities in the world so it’s not necessary all security persons recognize celebrities.

Bhasker Singh I really appreciate your view. Its the people what makes the country great. Even after country being at war, any iraqi can walk freely here in US, but we can't even imagine otherway around. Thats why US is a great nation. Looking at the menality of our people, I feel sorry to say we won't reach anywhere even after 100 yrs with this mentality. My last post . its not worth wasting time in unnecesary issues.

Kiran Kini It is an hype given to this SRK issue...though no one raised bars when our ex president Abdul kalam was frisked. Also he accepted graciously. why is SRK issue hyped....though the US people feel their national security above all else. We are not thinking their way...its our foolishness & not bothered about our national interest.

SRK is only an entertainer & nothing above else....so we must stop giving hype & talking Tit for Tat about this issue. We couldn't solve our own national issues in our country & we are talking about these petty issues...WHAT A WASTE...!!!

If we are not like them....not worried about our national security...it is our big fault or foolishness. Also the ministers who are comming to rescue SRK are also fooling themselves or taking advantage of this hype. India First actually here is the news for you...my sister lives in new york city in her million dollar home, she is VP in a large IT company...and guess what? she is never stopped when she enters US..but your god SRK has to go thru this test...what an irony...

maybe you should lend your womenfolk to SRK on airforce1 for easy entry into US !!!

BTW she once saw karan johar and SRK walking in central park. their gaurds stopped them from walking where these two celeb-kids were..when they said they dont care who they were and it was a public park with access to everyone, gaurds had to back off....this can never happen in your celeb-slavish india where public parks will even become their private property...

you need to step out of india and learn the way of life of other countries...
