Well ,I agree. No one is indispensible. But watch out your words.Be it Khans or kapoors or Kumars or any X Y Zs,the Industry does not stick on the LABLE. No doubt when a film maker launches a movie he/she takes certain points, things ,faces & aspects into account.At present, no doubt Khans are on top. But mind not all the B'wd khans. Success or flop of once or twice of an actor does not make it Top or Bottom,Shinning or Fadded out.
No doubt, again, no one is etrnal.Losing one will lead to gaining another. So no point at pointing out to the issue that one K is out & the other K is in or the only shining one.
So keep low & watch for enjoyment with out malice to none.

There is nothing like 'Khan Era' however nothing can beat Shahrukh,Aamir,Salman films, people still watch it even if flop. By default I always watch Shakruk and Aamir films, rest other if its hit. The subject,acting,quality are never boring or cheap stuff. They belong to Amitabh Bacchan genre kind.

question is really not appropriate...i mean whats this "khans era" ...ofcourse evry actor has a star period like dilip, amitabh and presently khans...tomoro may be ranbir kapoor and imran khan..and please don compare akshay wid legendary actors...he started his career along with present khans...hardly he got a superhit like dilips mughal-e-azam or amitjis sharaabi or amirs sarfarosh...like someone said below compare a star with star..hope we get some meaningful blogs..

Khans still rule. Go check out the box office figures. But everything changes so with time new generation will take over. But by the way Akshay Kumar is just a pure comedian whole last 3 movies were flop. So dont count him as a superstar. Ranbir is good and will become a big star with time. He still to young. Please compare apples to apples.

Acting of shahrukh.. chak de is a best example no one can do better than him... about salman he is a friend of friends. the world no.7.. wanted is another example.....he still rocks.... khans are known for changing trends....khans has largest fan following in the world.....

I think the question itself is not correct and this has been asked believing that there was an "era of Khans". I believe that there was no such "era" or monopoly of anybody over B'wood. There may be some brief periods when somebody got a "chance" to be called a "superstar" just because there was a vacuum. I am sure that people will not remember any khan except Dilip Kumar (because of Mughal-e-Azam) and Amir Khan (because of his versatile roles, performance and unusual approach). Shahrukh Khan is going to be an another Rajendar Kumar who was a hit in his times but nobody knows him today. Just because he did what Shahrukh is doing today. "stereotype love stories". Salman? sorry, his fans will feel bad.

Thee never was monopoly in Bollywood So Khans Never was one And Are Not And are not going to be .Younger generation replaces the old sooner than you think .Devanand Rajesh Khanna Rajkapoor Dilip Kumar even though 'god" even the gods are replaced .Nothing surprising .People can do what there predecessor did and if not lean very soon The trick however is to know how to exit gracefully Its in the timing and right choice we should judge the actor not how few work one is doing compared to other or themselves few years ago

Vikram Vishal Akshay " Waiter " kumar !!! how dare he even come close to the three Khans..you must be kidding man..he is a bloody clown..Johnny Lever is not as repetitive as he is..He is in this industry for close to 20 years and today he has started giving some B , C grade hits.. and that's come to a grinding halt too :) i do not know how many disaters he has given off late..now for God sake do not talk about openings of his movies..it's as good as Sehwag's innings for India :) you should compare Ajshay " Waiter " kumar to Suneil Shetty man ( guess, I got the spelling right )..I can anyday watch this non actor Khan ( Salman ) who has been displaying his non acting skills for the last 20 yrs rather that this dumb witted Akshay " moronic" kumar
Raj Dhande well as you said I agree it's Marketing, but I dont thing Khan's are as good as Akshay, Hrithik and Kapoors and more over they never buy any awards for there best movies. Example 'Amir Khan'

Yes, it was never one Khan to the caliber of Mr. Bacchan collectively as a herd khans can be compared to that stature, but fortunately we are seeing some new talent now like Hrithik, Abhishek, Ajay, Akshay and Ranbir. So the collective Khan era is also formally over. I think except Amir Khan and his versitality all other khans had done stereo type roles. I could not believe how our audience could like SRK in same type of roles and atleast 4 movies with same story line as DDLJ. Saif except few good movies was never a potent force.

And how many times have you watched this Akshay " waiter " kumar display his versatlity..he is worse than Nirupa " quentessential ma " Roy..and this other new talent Ajay Devgn..we are sick and tired of his constipated acts..that same booding crap!!! Boy !! if new talent is somebody the Khans have chewed and spat in 30 secs ( Akshay and Ajay ) then i am sorry you cannot identify talent..Hrithik too came 10 years ago and supposedly stole the Khans' thunder but alas, he can only stand behind not ahead or besides...What to say about Abhishek.." Us bachhe ki yahi galti hai ki uske papa BigB hain aur biwi Aishwarya hai "..his papa will never let him rise and his biwi will take him along to Cannes and Oprah's show..Yes accepted Ranbir is great talent..though he still required 2 yrs to get that elusive hit..all said and done he is somebody who can live to the Khan glory and is being promoted to do that so that we are not left with mediocre stars when the Khans' ( its when..mind it :) ) call it curtains..

Well all Khans are above age 40 ,they have to act as Dad and uncle's role after few years or so [Shahrukh Khan's facial feature is aging rapidly], and no new Khan is emerging as actor except Amir Khan's nephew and after his first film [JTYJN] all 3 films are flops. While new actores like Shahid, Ranbir, Neil, John Abraham are much younger and have ages to give more and more hit films.
Vikram Vishal I mean how can you compare these Shahid Kapoors and John Abrahams to the Khans man..give me a break !!!These kiddos have been in this industry for close to 6 years now..they have not even given a proper hit man..The Khans by then ( they are the greatest ever now) had given a multitude of blockbusters..guys don't ou even think before wriitng..special people have to come and make movies for these kids..the Khans created directors. You call this dead pan face..who wears only one expression on his face an actor..he depend more on his " butt " than his acting skills..and it hardly matters if they are above 40..the fact is their total valuation is more than 75% of the industry's valuation..so keep your trap shut and wait for somebody like a Ranbir ( which i think could achieve what the Khans have )to come up and show us his talent which i am sure he will.

khans hav ruled bollywood from ages right from dilip kumar(yusuf khan), feroze khan to present top four khans aamir salman shahruk n saif...the only big actor between them is amitabh...so i would say khans era is the highest n will always be...some people just cant digest the truth...

Guys, i dont think that khans ever ruled Bollywood,i saw all the discussions here ,, How could you guys forget Big B, till he is in the Bollywood scene, noone can rule Bollywood..
Raj Dhande there was a time when Big B was ruling and there was a time when some one else was ruling before Big B, but my friend we are talking about current time and its Khan's ruling the B'town and that is truth every one knows but wont accept.

Vikram Vishal Its not about red lips and fair skin mam..its about star power..and I think the late Mukesh ( his grandfather) had more and still has :) more star power than him..you will say give him some time..but when you are comparing someone to the Khan brigade ( Aamir, Salman and Shahrukh ) you have very little time on your hands :)

Nitin Midha Vikram, Raj & Arif, the era of the Khans has already long back been over. If you consider acting as the scale for the era, then its only Amir who stands tall from the day 1. SRK just had the label of a good romantic hero in films like DDLJ & KKHH. His off beat films are just Chak de & Swadesh in which there was a tinge of acting skills Bazigar & Darr being hits just as there was no other solid performances at that time, & he replicating the guide lines by the great ever Big B. But there is no other flick which makes him a star. He can never be considered or rather even close to the acting prowess of the superstar Big B, as he has never ever been even close to the versatility of bacchan sir.
Now coming to Salman, he can never be considered an actor, & is only in the scene due to his looks, his acting/dance being a nowhere in the race.
The stars of today are truely Hrithik, Ranbir, Ajay who have always depicted a sense of maturity & have delivered many power packed performances on every stage.

Vikram Vishal Jaya..with due respect to your views..even if they have finished the names that you have taken ( apart from Ranbir ) are finished too.. one of them never even started ( Ajay Devgn- an actor not a star !! ) and the other no doubt has given some B grade C grade hits.. which unfortunately the Khan's still do..Salman has lost his touch recently but there is no reason why he should not be back..so , the fact of the matter is the Khans rule the roost...just like the Aussies in cricket..others can shout from the rooftops and go hoarse :)
